Nurse Practitioner, Education Liaison
Trauma A Brief Overview Nurse Practitioner performing a complete and accurate trauma history and physical according to established protocols. Responsible for development and promotion of educational opportunities for advanced practice providers and advanced practice students. What you will do Functions as the nurse practitioner to a group of Trauma/surgery patients. Obtains a health history and performs a physical exam in order to determine a diagnosis and treatment plan in accordance with established standards, procedures and practices. Requisitions laboratory tests and radiological exams as appropriate. Participates in all trauma and surgical critical care education conferences and performance improvement and patient safety programs meetings. Completes daily Trauma service computerized progress note addressing all problems, plans of care, and diagnostic workup on each patient utilizing established protocols. Daily rounds, dressing changes, and writing of progress notes. Attends daily turnover rounds. Consults and works collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers in compliance with iRESPECT standards to coordinate and implement activities, promote patient/customer satisfaction and to develop an effective treatment plan. May also see consults to assist residents, when necessary. Daily rounds in Trauma Step-down, Trauma floor, making referrals and consultations if indicated. May also assist in #distance rounds#. Performs duties of a Trauma Nurse Practitioner as delineated in TNP protocols required to ensure continuity of patient medical care. Participates in Trauma Manual updates. Manages CCA (Critical Care Assessment) patients in conjunction with the attending and CCA residents. Management of Trauma Step-down in conjunction with the trauma fellow and trauma attending. Manages/discharge trauma/surgery patients from various settings in conjunction with trauma attending and/or trauma team leader. Works collaboratively with the physician leadership to ensure appropriate education and professional development of all advanced practice providers. Develops patient care policies and pathways in collaboration with nursing leadership. Coordinates transfers and discharge planning with the case managers and/or social workers. Collaborates with lead advance practice provider to coordinate interdisciplinary educational activities which focus on the clinical practice, education, performance improvement and patient safety. Dictate discharge summaries in a timely manner. Maintains active credentialing by medical staff. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Required and Master#s Degree Preferred and Additional training may be required for specialty areas. Required and Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates. Required Licensed Nurse Practitioner Nurse Practitioner certification or registry eligible Upon Hire Required and RN

State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Current licensure as RN in State of Tennessee. Upon Hire Required and Eligible for Certificate of Fitness (Prescriptive privileges) in State of Tennessee Upon Hire Required and ACLS Upon Hire Required and ATCN - Advanced Trauma Care Nurse Upon Hire Required and ATLS - Advanced Trauma Life Support Upon Hire Required Acute care training Upon Hire Preferred and Additional certification in specialty areas may be required (i.e., Family Nurse Practitioner, OB Nurse Practitioner, Occupational Nurse Practitioner). Upon Hire Required Minimum 2 years experience of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse. Required and Experience in a trauma center will be considered in lieu of acute care training.
