Job Description and Duties

The incumbent is responsible for case management of employees with job related injuries at Porterville Developmental Center. Monitors job injuries, evaluates treatment per identified occupational medicine algorithms, evaluates effectiveness of treatment plans, makes recommendations for changes as needed. Works as a Liaison with the Health and Safety Office outside consultants, and clinic effectiveness in job related injury treatment.

This position is not eligible for telework, this position is in person only.

Working Conditions

Typical Working Conditions: Incumbents will have ongoing interaction with personnel at all levels in the organization and staff at other state agencies.

The position requires prolonged sitting and extensive use of data terminals. Incumbents must possess the ability and knowledge to use a personal computer, fax machine and photocopier. Must have knowledge of facility policies and procedures and maintain confidentiality.

Must demonstrate a high level of reliability which contributes to departmental success. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens and other conditions common to clinical nursing environment.

Physical Demands: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in this duty statement.

Department Information

The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.

These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
