The NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs). By using the SPs the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition and determines if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection(b) of Section 2725). The NP will provide and coordinate the careof patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care in the Cardiothoracic ICU. The NP also participates in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, provides education and support, as well as makes appropriate referrals. Document services rendered.

Qualifications

  • Active CA RN and CA NP license - required

  • BLS and ACLS certification from AHA or ARC- required

  • MSN/DNP with Acute Care NP or AG-ACNP specialty -required

  • National certification in NP specialty -required

  • Minimum of 3 years Cardiac ICU experience as a RN -required.

  • Cardiac ICU experience as a NP- preferred.

  • Will consider New Graduate NP (NPI) : NP I less than 6 months of NP experience

VIEW JOBS 7/30/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-10-28T00:00 The Nurse Practitioner is a member of the intensive care team and has as his/her primary responsibility the management of critically ill complex patients in an intensive care setting. The NP has specialized skill and knowledge related to the unique ICU setting in which s/he practices and performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, and provides direct patient care services in a specific ICU, according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards. The NP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting, and provides leadership to the organization and nursing profession. Duties may include obtaining patient health histories and complete physical examinations, documenting findings noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings, ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests. May also need to explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, staff, and healthcare learners. Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient's clinical status. Document patient preparation and response to procedure(s). Formulate and implement treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s). Minimum Education: * Master's degree required. Minimum Experience/Knowledge: * Five years clinical nursing experience. * 2 years minimum Critical Care Nurse Practitioner experience required * 2 years minimum ICU/critical care nursing experience required. * Must be able to intubate patients (or willing to perform this function once trained) and manage critical situations and codes. Required License/Certification: * Valid California Registered Nursing license required. * Valid California Acute Care Nurse Practitioner license required. * Valid California NP Furnishing and DEA licenses strongly preferred. * BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association required. * ACLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association required. * Fire and Safety Certification.
