Department Marketing Statement

Student Health is a full service on campus primary healthcare facility for UCSB students. We see students on both an appointment and walk in basis. Our auxiliary services included on-site laboratory, pharmacy, x-ray, lab, physical therapy, eye care, and dental care centers. Our specialty services include psychiatry and orthopedics. An extensive alcohol and drug program complements other behavioral health services.

Brief Summary of Job Duties

Provides primary care to a college-aged student population including: evaluation and treatment of acute injuries and illnesses, management of chronic conditions, contraception, mental health, routine immunizations, and counseling and advising on sexual health and substance use.

Coordinate with other primary care providers, registered nurses, and ancillary departments such as lab, pharmacy, X-ray, social work, psychiatry, physical therapy, eye care and dental center.

Minimum Requirements

Valid California NP License. Current DEA Licensure.

  • Student Health requires that clinical staff must successfully complete and pass the background check and credentialing process before employment and date of hire.

  • To comply with Santa Barbara County Public Health Department Health Offier Order, this position must provide evidence of annual influenza vaccination, or wear a surgical mask while working in patient care areas during the influenza season.

  • Any HIPAA/FERPA violation may be subject to disciplinary action.

  • This is a 10 or 11-month 100% position; 4 or 8 weeks of furlough must be taken during quarter breaks or summer months. Hours vary during quarter breaks depending on stafffing needs.

  • Student Health is closed between the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays.

Direct Patient Care

95% Essential Daily Duties

Participates in direct patient care by obtaining histories; performing complete or partial physical exams to assess the nature and extent of presenting illness or injury; and doing psychosocial assessments. Orders or performs appropriate diagnostic studies and interprets results. Evaluates data collected and differentiates between normal and abnormal. Plans and implements treatment under Standardized Procedures using established Treatment Guidelines.

Refers and consults as appropriate using internal, campus and community resources. Provides contraceptive and other women's health care services. Completes medical records in a timely fashion in compliance with the Standardized Procedures and Protocols and Student Health Policies and Procedures.

This inclusive program serves over 200 children, ages 3 months to 5 years daily, at two sites in a play and relationship based approach to learning. The University Children's Center on the main campus cares for children ages 3 months to 3 years and the Orfalea Family Children's Center on the semi-rural West Campus cares for children ages 3 months to 5 years. Brief Summary of Job Duties Under the guidance of the CDC-2 Lead, the CDC 2- Teacher collaborates in the planning, implementing, and evaluating of developmentally appropriate curriculum for children in the Early Childhood Care and Education Services (ECCES) as prescribed by the National Association of the Education of Young Children. The CDC 2- Teacher shares the responsibility with the CDC 2-Lead to set up the physical (indoor and outdoor)environment to meet changing needs, maintains a safe, clean, and pleasant environment, models and instructs other adults in best practice, and provides information to parents regarding their children as well as general child development information. CDC 2- Teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with codes of all State and local governing contracting agencies; and works cooperatively and collegially with other staff members of the Early Childhood Care and Education Services Department.
