In collaboration with supervising physicians, the APRN directly manages the care of complex acutely ill patients via face-to-face, telehealth, or other communication devices. The APRN is an expert in patient care who provides quality care, performs patient assessments, H & Ps, and takes a thorough medical history.

The APRN can order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests. The APRN develops medical diagnoses, appropriate treatment plan, prescribes medical regimen, and educates patients/family regarding diagnosis and plan of care. May perform approved procedures and order medications as indicated in the Delineation of Privileges.

The APRN works directly with physicians, staff, administration, patients and families to ensure quality of care across the health system. The APRN is a clinical team leader that intervenes and manages deteriorating patients. The APRN integrates evidence-based practice and technological advances into their scope of practice.

The APRN may participate in research initiatives, data collection, quality improvement, discharge planning, and coordination of patient care within the area of practice.

The APRN participates in and facilitates patient throughput, optimal patient outcomes, optimal length of stay and improved patient satisfaction.

Active Florida APRN license required. MSN required.

Acute care specialization or certification required. If APRN does not have acute care certification, must have completed a one year post degree residency in acute care or have one year full time experience in an inpatient acute care setting as an APRN. Obtain medical staff credentialing and privileges. 3 years of relevant nursing experience required.

ANCC/AANP certification required. DEA license required. BLS certification required.

Interacts and works cooperatively with patients of all ages and ancillary departments to assure patient satisfaction. This position may require deployment of legal, ethical and compliance related documents that must be presented and thoroughly explained to the patient at the time of registration. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining knowledge and deployment of practices used within the department as well as throughout the hospital to address patient questions or concerns. High School Diploma, Certificate of Completion, GED, Training, or Experience required. Typing/Data entry test with a minimum score of 25 wpm. Complete and successfully pass the Patient Access training course. Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written). Excellent customer service skills. Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Desired: Knowledge of Health Care regulatory guidelines to include but not limited to HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc. Knowledge of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations, and precertification.
