Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a residential and acute program, for males and females ages 8-21, consist of a cognitive behavioral treatment model that encourages youth to safely explore thoughts and feelings related to the development of positive and desirable behavior within their homes and communities. Our programs have been designed to provide each individual resident quality mental health treatment in a safe therapeutic environment. Newport News Behavioral Health Center has an excellent career opportunity for a Nurse Manager in our Acute program to join our team of dedicated professionals. The Acute Nurse Manager provides supervision of Acute Services staff and oversees the development and implementation of the acute programs across the continuum of care.
The Acute Nurse Manager assists the Director of Nursing in the achievement of department objectives regarding patient care, attainment of operational goals and participates in the promotion of services within the community. Ensures consistent use of the acute care process in providing quality care and acts as a resource to all nursing and direct care staff. Assists in training acute care staff and collaborates with other department personnel in establishing and complying with acute care standards, policies, procedures and protocols. Provides primary channels of communication for physicians, admissions/intake, therapists, care coordinators, DON, facility managers and administrators.

Requires a Bachelor degree in Nursing, Masters preferred.
Three (3) years of nursing and supervisory experience with adolescent populations in an acute care setting preferred.
Requires a Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Virginia.
Excellent communication skills, ability to maintain effective working relationships, inter-departmentally, intra-departmentally, and with the acute staff. Demonstrates the ability to organize, delegate and provide a role model for acute services. Must have ability to communicate in both oral and written form and in a clean and concise manner.
