Stonington Institute is committed to providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adults in Southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas. We offer medical detox as well as residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military service members in our North Stonington location. Our clinic in Groton, CT, offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment, and is conveniently located across the street from The Inn at Trails Corner, a new 180 bed dormitory-style sober community for adult men and women who attend our outpatient day treatment programs. The Inn offers overnight accommodations, full-meal service, indoor/outdoor recreation options, a workout room, and computer center for all clients. We accept private insurance, state-funded plans and self-pay arrangements.
The Nurse Manager provides administrative and clinical supervision to the RNs, LPNS and Detox Support Staff (DSS). S/He is a liaison to other departments (i.e., clinical, admissions) to ensure coordinated and efficient operations of services. S/He promotes care consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Stonington Institute and the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care. As a Registered Nurse, s/he may provide direct nursing care, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing treatment plan.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides telephonic assistance to staff during off hours ("on call"), on a rotating basis with DoN.
Completes client admissions and discharges per policy and applicable regulations.
Actively supervises RN, LPN and DSS staff. Monitors performance during assigned shift. Provides feedback to improve or maintain performance. Takes action promptly when work performance does not meet standards. Provides mentoring, counseling, and disciplinary action when warranted.
Coordinates with Director of Nursing regarding schedule for RNs and LPNs.
Provides orientation to and training of new staff; documents same.
In collaboration with DoN, conducts performance appraisals for RNs & LPNs, on or before due dates established by Human Resources and provides input regarding performance during orientation, annually, and on an ongoing basis.
Facilitates groups focused on substance abuse education and/or education in an established area of expertise (i.e., health/nutrition for Registered/Licensed Dietitian).
Prepares documentation of groups within the timeframes established by and to the specifications of regulatory agencies and/or The Joint Commission.
Develops curriculum for and provide education components of program based in areas of specialty, client needs, and community history.
Serves as the representative of the DoN, in her absence, for facility, regulatory and/or accreditation surveys and other matters.

Graduate of accredited school of nursing with a current State of Connecticut R.N. License. BSN preferred. Three (3) years clinical experience with psychiatric mental health or substance abusive population, ideally in a supervisory role.
