Reporting to the Director of Surgical Services, this individual assumes the role as a leader in managing the department and staff to assure quality service. Palms West's OR cares for both Adult and Pediatric patients. The OR has 8 suites and handles between 22 to 25 cases per day.
Manage daily operations and activities of the Surgical Department.
Provide high-quality patient care to and act as a liasion with patients and their representatives, physicians, and employees.
Ensure efficient operation of the department and optimum use of resources to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
Communicate regularly with Director to gather data, provide consideration, and ensure consistency in implementation of policies and procedures.
Supervise and mentor staff to ensure their performance and the accomplishment of departmental responsibilities.
Monitor and maintain appropriate staffing levels within budgeted hours.
Ensure department compliance with JCAHO and all applicable agencies (local, state and federal).

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
Current State of Florida RN license, or
Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)
Minimum 5 years OR RN experience in the acute care hospital
3 years management experience
Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications via American Heart Association
Advanced certification such as, CNOR,CPAN, preferred.
