The Nurse Manager is responsible for supervising, coordinating and coaching staff that deliver nursing care to the residents in accordance with current regulations.

Essential job responsibilities include:

Ensures that campus policies and procedures, State and Federal requirements, rules and regulations as they relate to nursing care are adhered to. Responsible for coordination and direction of all resident care; coordinates care and services with other departments/providers from the time of admission to discharge. Completes appropriate assessments, documentation, delegating data collection within scope of practice and acting timely on findings. Administers medications, completes treatments as ordered and accurately observes and monitors resident's condition on an ongoing basis. Directly supervises employees in the nursing department. Responsibilities include: training and educating employees, planning, assigning and directing work, performance appraisals, delivering praise and corrective action to employees, addressing complaints and problem resolution. Maintains safety of residents and employees. Responds appropriately to safety hazards and reports any issues to the appropriate person. Ensures that all staff follows the infection control policy and procedure. Charts, documents and communicates care related information in the manner dictated by nursing practice and facility policy. Coordinates new employee site orientation with the assistance of support staff.


Nurse Manager

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing program

  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse within the state in which working and must maintain licensure.

  • Current valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats

  • Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident's Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to know, SDS, ADA, HUD Policy and Procedures, Fair Housing laws and regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Senior care experience

  • Proven leadership abilities.

Position description The Austin Emergency Department has 15 beds and an annual volume of 18000 patients. The nurse manager 24/7 practice: * Is accountable for the implementation of the vision, mission and values of Mayo Clinic and the Department of Nursing within defined areas of practice. * Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the operational, fiscal, and personnel activities within defined areas of practice to ensure the provision of quality patient care 24 hours a day. * Contributes to the strategic planning process, and attainment of goals of the organization. * Is responsible for one or more inpatient units based upon unit/area complexity and size of practice. * Advocates for and allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate nursing care based on current standards of practice. * Is responsible for total work unit budget. The individual promotes shared decision making on the unit level. * Acts as a resource and facilitates collaboration between nursing personnel and other health care disciplines throughout the organization and within the healthcare community. * Is accountable for promoting ongoing development of all staff and for maintaining a professional environment in which all staff can grow and develop. Direct reports may include nurse supervisors of assigned inpatient units. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program. Minimum of three years of nursing practice experience required. Additional qualifications Demonstrated leadership ability. Experience in the department's specialty preferred. Management experience preferred. Preferred Education: Graduate of an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited Master's in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, business, or health related field as approved by Mayo Clinic Nurse Executive Committee. License or certification Current Minnesota RN license required. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Maintains ACLS, PALS and TNCC per specific unit guidelines. Any additional specialty certification/training required by the work area is highly recommended.
