We have been retained by our client, DCH Health System to identify a strong nurse leader to provide direction and guidance for a busy 13 suite OR. The leader will have 24/7 responsibility and is supported by Team Leaders, Educators, Nurses, PCAs.and a SWAT team.
The candidate will demonstrate Servant Leadership principles and serve as the Chief Recruitment and Retention officer for the unit. This leader is visible and serves as a mentor to the team. Budget management, performance feedback, andproductivity standards are all part of the job.
  • RN license
  • 5 years OR experience.
  • BSN or related healthcare degree or in progress, Masters preferred
  • At least 3 years in management required.
  • Comfort with Lean/Six Sigma a plus.

The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for overseeing the quality delivery of resident services and supervising the resident assistant staff in the SCALF. Qualifications/Skills Needed: Candidate should possess an RN nursing degree. Candidates should have five years experience in senior resident services. Experience in staff supervision required. Strong verbal and written communications skills as well as excellent organization and interpersonal skills are a must. Registered Professional Nurse (RN)s use Windows 98, Office Suite 99, Outlook E-mail and Internet Explorer for corporate communication and workflow. Proficiency in these applications is strongly preferred. Occasional travel required. Valid driver's license and proof of insurability required. Duties include, but are not limited to:Resident Focused Duties: * Identify staff refresher training needs and provide or arrange training for clinical staff as outlined in the ADPH Standards for SCALF. * Develop appropriate written plans of care for SCALF residents to address specific problems identified and will work in conjunction with facility staff, physician, resident family and/or sponsor. * Consult with the Executive Director/Administrator on all issues of SCALF resident safety and well-being. * Perform a comprehensive assessment, PSMS and behavior screen of each SCALF resident upon admission, when a significant change in health status or behavior occurs. * Identify SCALF resident care problems areas and formulate written interventions to address those areas. An evaluation will be performed to identify that the planned interventions were successful. * Perform a monthly assessment of each SCALF resident. * Assess and communicate with the SCALF residents attending physician, residents family and/or sponsor significant changes in the residents condition. All changes will be documented on the resident care plan. * Work with the Executive Director to build relationships and strong communication with residents and families to aid in their adjustment to Morning Pointe, identify needs and problems and develop an appropriate plan of care. * In accordance with the staffing plan, serve as Resident Assistant fulfilling all resident care responsibilities as required by staffing plan and / or business needs. * Responsible for the orientation, training, communication, supervision and evaluation of all SCALF Resident Assistant staff members. Meet with SCALF Resident Assistants to discuss performance issues and complete 90 day and annual performance appraisals under the guidance and direction of the Executive Director. * Assist the Morning Pointe Management Team in maintaining a residential environment, which focuses service delivery on promoting individual resident capabilities through coordination of resident service operations and programming functions for all departments. * Ensure successful implementation of operations policies, procedures and programs within the guidelines of ADPH state regulations and Morning Pointe policies. * Assist the LPN with administering medication to SCALF residents. All medications shall be documented on the residents' medication administration record. * Responsible for the scheduling of SCALF Resident Assistant staff, call-in coverage, and work/shift assignments. * Ensure that appropriate associate counseling and disciplinary actions occur with approval from the Executive Director. * Ensure that staff turnover is minimized and meet annualized percent goal. * Responsible for coordination and implementation of specific core programs, such as well care guidelines, hydration, falls prevention, exercise and others as identified. * Identify and share SCALF resident success stories and best practices to demonstrate the impact of improved quality of service provided. * Define other associates' roles in core programs and ensure access to training necessary to fulfill those roles. * Update daily assignment sheets. * Participate in family conferences as needed to discuss the residents' status and review appropriate service plan and medication regimen. * Complete quarterly and significant change service assessments. Assist Program Services Director in completing quarterly resident report cards to update sponsor(s) on the residents' level of care and physical, cognitive and emotional well-being. * Meet with residents daily to encourage communication and to gain an understanding on their needs. * Check Medication Assistance Records (MARs) when new medications arrive, contact the pharmacy regarding changes with medications and conduct QA audits of the Medication Assistant Records and medication cart as indicated. * Assist the Morning Pointe Management team in the scheduling of ancillary services such as podiatry, dentist, therapies, pharmacy consultation and other similar services. * Complete the Deta Brain Series, the Pharmacological Management of Dementia and the Dementia Assessment Series provided by the Dementia Education and Training Act Program. Ensure that prior to resident contact all clinical staff receive training on the subject matter listed below: * State laws and rules on assisted living and memory care facilities * Identifying and reporting abuse, neglect and exploitation * Basic first aid * Advance directives * Protecting resident confidentiality * Safety and nutritional needs of the elderly * Resident fire and environmental safety * Understanding the aging mind * Basic brain function Create and maintain service records for new residents and work with families to assure all required paperwork is provided. Work directly with and supervise Resident Assistants in the creation and maintenance of resident records including the following: * Proper creation of Resident Records upon move-in * Documentation of all medications * Proper notation on Resident Services notes * Maintain outside provider laboratory reports * Maintain reports including incident and death reports * Complete transfer forms Physical Demands: This position is classified as HEAVY, requiring exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift/move objects. Functional requirements include constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, turning and stretching. Finger and hand dexterity required. Visual and hearing acuity essential. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions necessary. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations required.
