Job Summary Title: Nurse Manager Wound/Ostomy (Must have Wound/Ostomy experience) Schedule: Exempt position. Monday-Friday, 8-5 with flexibility required to meet the needs of the department. Department: Wound/Ostomy Services Location:New Hanover Regional Medical Center - Wilmington, NC Relocation Assistance provided. The Wound/Ostomy Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading the wound, ostomy, and continence care program within a healthcare facility. This role ensures the highest standards of patient care by developing, implementing, and monitoring wound and ostomy management protocols. The Nurse Manager provides expert clinical guidance, educates staff, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. Additionally, they are responsible for staff supervision, performance evaluations, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.The Nurse Manager strives to spend at least 50% of his/her time on the unit and is visible, present and available to staff to provide necessary mentoring, teaching and support. Nurse Managers develops and maintains collegial relationships with physicians, clinical educators and other interdisciplinary team members. She/he provides leadership and creates a strategy to achieve the best outcomes including but not limited to quality, financial vitality, employee and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the wound and ostomy care team, ensuring high-quality patient-centered care. Assess, develop, and implement evidence-based wound and ostomy treatment plans. Provide education and training to nursing staff on wound prevention, care techniques, and best practices. Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans. Monitor patient progress, assess treatment effectiveness, and make necessary adjustments. Ensure compliance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation requirements. Oversee quality improvement initiatives to enhance wound and ostomy care services. Manage department resources, including staffing, budgeting, and supply procurement. Remarkable Care. ations Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Nursing, required. Graduate Degree, preferred. Experience: Two years demonstrated leadership experience, preferred. Three years clinical RN experience in an acute care setting, preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required. Certification as a Wound, Ostomy, Nurse (CWON) strongly preferred. (WOCN) with Continence is a bonus. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.
