We are the parent company of the Destin Emergency Care Center (DECC) and the Rehabilitation Institute, both located on Airport Road in Destin.

Nurse Manager Free Standing Emergency Department

POSITION SUMMARY:

To administer, analyze and appraise the care given to patients within the Destin Emergency Care Center. To advise Emergency Services Director regarding the status of patient care, budgetary projections, quality improvement processes. To anticipate and estimate future needs of the DECC to improve quality of patient care. To collaborate and coordinate the efforts of the staff of the DECC to accomplish the mission of FWBMC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops and administers neonate, infant pediatric, adult, geriatric and adolescent services necessary to provide the highest quality of care in the emergency care setting.

  • Promotes a multidisciplinary coordination of services, such as, nursing, medical, respiratory, registration, laboratory, pharmaceutical and public relations.

  • Develop, monitor, appraise and analyze budgetary goals and outcomes within the DECC.

  • Administer and appraise Quality Improvement within the services provided.

  • Control processes related to Human Resources; inclusive of hiring, evaluating, terminating, counseling, coaching and development of the staff.

  • Develop, interpret, inspect and review policies and procedures within the services provided.

  • Collaborates, develops and participates in marketing of the DECC, including educational program development, external advertising and working in alliance with local and regional programs.

  • Responsible for twenty four-hour coverage and problem resolution to the services provided.

  • Direct the practice of professional nursing and support positions within the services provided to maintain quality patient care through implementation and evaluation of clinical practice standards.

  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, qualify of care or the services delivered.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.

  • Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm.

  • Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

  • Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required

  • BSN preferred

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • State of Florida RN License required
  • BCLSAHA Healthcare Provider required upon hire
  • ACLS required within 90 days of hire
  • PALS required within 90 days of hire
  • CPI required within 90 days of hire
  • TNCC preferred
  • CEN and/or ENPC preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

  • 5 years licensed RN required
  • 1 year direct patient care experience in acute care setting required
  • 1 year experience as RN in Emergency Department required
  • 1 year of management experience required

Emergency Services Overview The Emergency Department at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center boasts 22 treatment rooms/bays and a dedicated ER Radiology Room.. The Emergency Department at FWBMC assesses and treats all ages, from neonatal to geriatric patients. Our Emergency Department also includes an express care area for minor injuries and illnesses. In addition, we have a Pediatric ER that is dedicated to treating the emergency health care needs of infants, children and adolescents and a satellite Emergency Department in Destin, FL with 6 treatment rooms. As an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, Level II Adult Cardiovascular Center and a licensed Psychiatric Treatment Center, the Emergency Department offers the most comprehensive inventory of services in the tri-county area. Position Overview The position will be staffed primarily at the Destin ER location but could also work at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center as needed. Provide professional nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process. To collaborate with other members of the health care delivery team including physicians, to deliver quality health care.
