East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking a full time Nurse Manager for our 6 John Chafee Boulevard in Newport, RI. The Nurse Manager position will report to the Director of Nursing and collaborate with other members of the Health Center leadership team to promote integrated care and provide seamless operations of the health center.

We are seeking a highly professional and motivated individual who enjoys working with clients in a community health setting. Join our expanding dynamic multidisciplinary team and provide comprehensive patient care using a care team model.

The Nurse Manager will provide approximately 50% of his/her time in direct, clinical support to the medical providers and/or behavioral health prescribers working within a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH), and/or Integrated Home Health (IHH) Team, while the additional 50% will be administrative to support the clinical care team staffs (i.e., Nurses, Lead Medical Assistant, etc.). The Nurse Manager will work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to ensure enhanced clinical care, superior customer service, and adherence to various licensing and accreditation standards and quality improvement initiatives. The Manager will lead training initiatives, embrace patient advocacy, and be the go to for clinical staff in the Health Center.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent and be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Rhode Island Department of Health, as well as certified in Basic Life Support (BLS). Two or more years experience in a community health setting, acute care or emergency/urgent care working with primary care providers to coordinate care and disease management required. Previous experience in psychiatric nursing a plus. Previous experience in an electronic medical record (EMR) preferred; however, would receive training in EBCAPs EMR which is NextGen.

Performs all duties of Staff Nurse. <br><br> Performs all essential functions with consideration of the age-specific needs of the geriatric and adult. Directs and monitors the daily activities in assigned nursing department to ensure standards of patient care are met. Plans delegates and directs comprehensive nursing care by assigning instructing and leading a team of professional and/or ancillary staff. <br><br> Serves as clinical and professional resource. Fosters patient and family centered care in accordance with the Lifespan and Newport Hospital�s mission vision values with consideration of the life span including all developmental stages as well as cultural patterns.</p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>Oversees the daily operation of the assigned unit. Responsible for providing care to patients. <br><br> Assigns and distributes the work of the units in a manner that makes best use of available resources considering the knowledge skills and abilities of each member of the team. Maintains a safe environment of care. Ensures quality care is delivered. <br><br> Supervises staff and offers guidance and support. Ensures all operational tasks are completed efficiently and on time. Ensures that provider and patient needs are met. Participates with daily multidisciplinary rounds and facilitates patient flow.</p><p>Assists with interviews provides input to hiring and orients new staff. Provides professional guidance and assistance to nursing personnel in work activities. Contributes to the performance evaluations of assigned units.</p><p>Collaborates with nurse leaders and staff to ensure that Newport Hospital nursing achieves nursing Newport Hospital and Lifespan strategic plan goals (i.e. Joint Commission compliance Magnet designation etc.).</p><p>Demonstrates flexibility and innovation to facilitate the changes required to improve operations enhance revenue effectiveness productivity responsiveness and other quality/safety metrics.</p><p>Communicates effectively with patients providers families leaders and other healthcare teams.</p><p>Performs the duties of Staff Nurse.</p><p>Maintains quality assurance safety environmental and infection control standards in accordance with established hospital department policies procedures and objectives.</p><p>Performs other related duties as required.</p><p>Other information:</p><p>BASIC KNOWLEDGE:</p><p>Graduate from a school of nursing and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. BSN and certification in area of specialty preferred. National certification in medical/surgical nursing and/or critical care nursing or similar specialty is required within 12 months of hire to this position if not already certified.</p><p>Current BLS and ACLS certification. Minimum of 2 to 3 years nursing experience in assigned area. Demonstrated leadership skills.</p><p>Responsible for maintaining a current knowledge of contemporary Professional Nursing practice within the legal framework of the Nurse Practice Act.</p><p>Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.</p><p>EXPERIENCE:</p><p>Minimum of 2 to 3 years nursing experience in assigned area. Demonstrated leadership skills. <br><br> Must be able to demonstrate competence to participate in interdisciplinary formulation of individual plans of care and to direct monitor and evaluate the nursing care furnished. Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact. <br><br> Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing. Must be able to sit stand squat/kneel for 1-3 hours per day walk 3-7 hours per day lift over 50 lbs with good mechanics twist/bend infrequently.
