Job Description Summary

The Main Operating Room is within a level-one, academic trauma center. There are 21- OR suites which cover all surgical specialties, to include; Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, Robotics and Burns.

The nursing teams consists of 75% Registered Nurses and 25% Certified Surgical Technologist. RN's are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures. The Main OR is a busy and dynamic nurse driven, Magnet designated department that provides cutting-edge technology to the citizens of SC.

Job Summary/Purpose: The Nurse Manager reports to the Director/Service Line Administrator.

The Nurse Manager ensures the provision of his/her departments in collaboration with other health professionals in an environment that is respectful of others, accountable for outcomes and adaptive to change. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the planning and comprehensive operations of department/unit on a 24-hour basis.

Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree required and completion of Master of Nursing (MSN) or graduate degree in related field within one year.

A minimum of 3 years of nursing work experience, two years of supervisory experience required. Must have 2 years of operating room (scrub and circulator) experience. Certification in specialty area preferred or completion within one year of eligibility strongly encouraged.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
