Nurse Manger, Emergency Department - Working manger position, at least 2 direct shifts per week required to maintain adequate department staffing
Duties and Responsibilities:
Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization
Oversee the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training and developing of employees within the department
Act as the hospital liaison with all pre-hospital emergency medical services, area EMS, transfer & referral centers
Organize services and systems necessary for the multidisciplinary approach throughout the continuum of care; assume responsibility for the clinical and financial performance of the department
Responsible for the ongoing quality/performance improvement processes
ED staff meetings and participates on other committees, task forces as assigned
Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care for all ED patients
Approach others in a tactful manner and treat others with respect and consideration
Follow through on commitments; accepts responsibility for personal actions; and adapt to change

Support and interpret policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the hospital
Facilitates staff analysis and improvement plans for ED employee satisfaction workgroup
Monitors customer satisfaction scores and implements plans to improve them
Monitor patient volumes, quality of care, and performance of staff to identify areas for improvement
Responsible for investigating patient, physician and staff complaints and concerns and works to resolve them
Complete annual performance evaluation for self and employees and implement plans of correction when needed
Leads cost efficient and effective operations, creates plan of correction for any operating
Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members
Maintain required competencies for self and all employees within the department
Required to work as a staff nurse at least 2 shifts a week, or more, as needed to ensure staffing coverage of department
POSITION SUMMARY
Administers, directs and coordinates activities of nursing care within assigned patient care units, and is responsible for the recommendation, development and implementation of policies and procedures in their unit(s) and for keeping the Director of Nursing Care Services informed of both progress and potential problems. Responsible for the direction and evaluation of patient care delivery. Maintain operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with the Director of Nursing Care Services.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; baccalaureate degree or equivalent experience desired. Current state licensure as professional nurse in this state. Current CPR. Two to five years of clinical experience, including experience in nursing management preferred. Specialty certification preferred for assigned patient care unit. Demonstrate leadership abilities; able to work under stressful situations. Possess good oral and written communication skills. Demonstrate interpersonal relationships in a manner which enhances communication, promote conflict resolution and facilitate staff development.
POSITION SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Assist with recruitment, interviewing and selection of personnel for the patient care unit in coordination with Director of Nursing Care Services.
Provide leadership and direction in accordance with organization and department goals and objectives.
Provide for professional growth and development of nursing personnel through identification of needs, sponsoring training programs, encouraging education (formal and continuing) efforts in coordination with Staff Development and evaluation of same.
Responsible for completion of regular performance evaluation for each staff member; conduct evaluations for new nursing personnel prior to completion of probationary period.
Counsel employees, develop staff and, as appropriate, utilize the disciplinary process.
