Glenn Medical Center is a Critical Access Hospital located in Willows CA, in partnership with our physicians, will consistently strive to provide accessible, high quality care within the local community. Nurse Manger, Emergency Department - Working manger position, at least 2 direct shifts per week required to maintain adequate department staffing

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization

  • Oversee the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training and developing of employees within the department

  • Act as the hospital liaison with all pre-hospital emergency medical services, area EMS, transfer & referral centers

  • Organize services and systems necessary for the multidisciplinary approach throughout the continuum of care; assume responsibility for the clinical and financial performance of the department

  • Responsible for the ongoing quality/performance improvement processes

  • ED staff meetings and participates on other committees, task forces as assigned

  • Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care for all ED patients

  • Approach others in a tactful manner and treat others with respect and consideration

  • Follow through on commitments; accepts responsibility for personal actions; and adapt to change

  • Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care for all patients

  • Support and interpret policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the hospital

  • Facilitates staff analysis and improvement plans for ED employee satisfaction workgroup

  • Monitors customer satisfaction scores and implements plans to improve them

  • Monitor patient volumes, quality of care, and performance of staff to identify areas for improvement

  • Responsible for investigating patient, physician and staff complaints and concerns and works to resolve them

  • Complete annual performance evaluation for self and employees and implement plans of correction when needed

  • Leads cost efficient and effective operations, creates plan of correction for any operating

  • Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members

  • Maintain required competencies for self and all employees within the department

  • Required to work as a staff nurse at least 2 shifts a week, or more, as needed to ensure staffing coverage of department

POSITION SUMMARY

Administers, directs and coordinates activities of nursing care within assigned patient care units, and is responsible for the recommendation, development and implementation of policies and procedures in their unit(s) and for keeping the Director of Nursing Care Services informed of both progress and potential problems. Responsible for the direction and evaluation of patient care delivery. Maintain operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with the Director of Nursing Care Services.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; baccalaureate degree or equivalent experience desired. Current state licensure as professional nurse in this state. Current CPR. Two to five years of clinical experience, including experience in nursing management preferred. Specialty certification preferred for assigned patient care unit. Demonstrate leadership abilities; able to work under stressful situations. Possess good oral and written communication skills. Demonstrate interpersonal relationships in a manner which enhances communication, promote conflict resolution and facilitate staff development.

POSITION SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  • Assist with recruitment, interviewing and selection of personnel for the patient care unit in coordination with Director of Nursing Care Services.

  • Provide leadership and direction in accordance with organization and department goals and objectives.

  • Provide for professional growth and development of nursing personnel through identification of needs, sponsoring training programs, encouraging education (formal and continuing) efforts in coordination with Staff Development and evaluation of same.

  • Responsible for completion of regular performance evaluation for each staff member; conduct evaluations for new nursing personnel prior to completion of probationary period.

  • Counsel employees, develop staff and, as appropriate, utilize the disciplinary process.

Responsibilities * Manages the foodservice program in a single site according to Healthcare Services Group (HCSG) policies and procedures, and federal/state requirements. * Provides leadership, support and guidance to ensure that food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety guidelines and customer service expectations are met. * Maintains records of income and expenditures, food, supplies, personnel and equipment and provides reports to HCSG District Manager on such. * Makes sure facility has sufficient supplies. * Takes periodic inventories of supplies and materials, trains new employees, and recommends dismissals. * Acts as liaison between building occupants, client managers or administrators and HCSG staff. * The Manager must be able to communicate effectively all directives from client managers, building occupants and administrators to HCSG staff. * Must be able to perform the essential job functions of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher positions for purposes of training and assisting when there are call-outs. * Training, quality control and in-servicing staff to HCSG standards is an essential part of the Manager's responsibility and includes touring kitchen several times per day to assess work quality using QCIs for documentation purposes. * The Manager is a department head in the facility and must conduct themselves and their department in a professional manner. * The Manager consistently embodies the characteristics necessary to drive the Company's Purpose, Vision, Values, and DNA. Qualifications * A high school diploma or equivalent is required. * Associate's degree or higher in food service management or in hospitality, if the course study includes food service or restaurant management, from an accredited institution of higher learning preferred. * Specialized training in foodservice management and nutrition is desirable. * Current ServSafe certification is required in accordance with State/County law, or must become ServSafe certified within 30 calendar days of hire. * Certified Dietary Manager or Certified Food Service Manager designation is required in accordance with CMS and/or State/County law. * Two years' experience in quantity food production/service and personnel supervision is desired. * Two years or more related dining/nutrition experience is desired. * Skilled in motivating and supervising foodservice personnel. * General knowledge and understanding of nutrition. * Ability to read and understand nutrient analysis reports. * Knowledge of foodservice program requirements. * An understanding of foodservice program finances. * Basic computer skills. * Ability to maintain records and complete reports as required, including web-based reporting. * Written and oral communication skills. * Considerable knowledge of quantity food production and serving techniques, food safety/sanitation requirements and procedures. * Skill in using public relations techniques to promote the foodservice program to client and residents. * Ability to interact positively with residents, client and other personnel and the public. * Good communication, interpersonal skills organizational skills. * Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. * Ability to work effectively with a team. * Ability to work independently as needed to support the group effort.
