The Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) Nurse Visitor/Educator is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing services to women and their families eligible for the NFP Program. Nurse Home Visitors/Educators are responsible for maintaining the highest standards in clinical nursing practice and adherence to the NFP model, and to policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of NFP and of the lead agency.

REPORTS TO: Nurse Supervisor Nurse Family Partnership,

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (minimum)

Educational Requirements:

  • Current New York State Nursing License in good standing.

  • BSN prepared preferred

  • Current Basic Life Support

  • Meets and is current and competent with all New York State licensure requirements, not limited to Infection Control and Child Abuse mandatory reporting.

  • Certified lactation specialist preferred (IBCLC or CLC)

Experience Requirements:

  • Two (2) years' experience in maternal/child health, public health, home visiting or mental/behavioral nursing preferred

  • Home visiting experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Basic computer skills

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends

  • Able to travel by air to Denver, CO for educational sessions

VIEW JOBS 12/5/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-05T00:00 * Registered Nurse Women and Children's Services Float Pool – Mother Baby Unit (Sisters of Charity Hospital): The Women and Children's (W&C) Float Pool RN will provide direct patient care and support to the W&C patient care areas, Labor and Delivery (L&D), Mother/Baby (M/B) and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The RN will demonstrate specific W&C float pool competency in all these areas (L&D, M/B and NICU). The W&C Float Pool RN is required to be flexible and may have to float throughout the W&C Units multiple times throughout the shift depending on fluctuations in volume and acuity. Coordinates total patient care utilizing the Nursing Process. Provides and participates in patient and family teaching/education. Collaborates with other health care professionals in the coordination of patient care. Provides direction to other non-licensed personnel within the departments. Float Pool RN will maintain level of competency based on their previous unit's experience.
