Hours: 28 hours per week; Monday-Thursday

Job Summary

The Nurse collaborates with the BCNY community to provide expertise and oversight for the provision of health services and acts as a liaison between program personnel, family, community, and healthcare providers to advocate for healthcare and a healthy program environment. The Nurse works directly with the Clubhouse Director to support the health of our members and staff and to ensure compliance with all health regulations and policies during learning center hours.

Responsibilities

Member Health

  • Initiate contact with families or alternate contact persons in the event of serious illness, injury, or other medical emergencies.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the school and family for medical 504s.

  • Accompany members and staff to the hospital during health emergencies.

Record Compliance

  • Develop and maintain an accurate, complete file on each student with documentation of relevant health records, required immunizations, and information on pre-existing medical conditions.

  • Conduct all necessary screenings and maintains accurate documentation in a timely manner.

  • Accept, keep, and dispense prescribed medications at appropriate intervals after obtaining required documentation from families and/or physicians.

  • Work closely with the Student Enrollment Team to ensure timely and accurate transmission of student health records.

  • Attend required department meetings and professional development trainings

  • Other duties as assigned

COVID-19 Compliance

  • Greet all BCNY staff and members, parents and visitors and ensure each is properly directed based on established security guidelines

  • Maintain an accurate door count of all personnel, proper sign-in procedures, COVID screenings and complete all related and required paper work on a timely basis

  • Set up and maintain PPE equipment, adhering to the prescribed guidelines for required forms and documents

  • Reach out to members and/or families that are "no calls/no shows" to ensure their reasoning for missing programming; COVID related

  • Maintain daily COVID logs, report information to OCFS and communicate any discrepancies to the Clubhouse Directors

  • Supervise and train all personnel on COVID protocols and PPE usage with Clubhouse Director

Qualifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York

  • Familiarity with medications; Hospital experience preferred

  • Previous occupational health and safety experience a plus

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required

  • Excellent working skills including: communication skills, organizational skills and attention to details

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to physically assist members with mobility impairment

  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist members in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of members.

Job Summary Maintenance workers are responsible for the maintenance and care of clubhouse facilities and equipment by possessing demonstrated skills to complete specific tasks related to plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, HVAC, or other areas of maintenance expertise. The ability to operate equipment and machinery and lift in excess of 50 pounds is required. Additionally, maintenance workers must perform general cleaning services internal and external to the Clubhouse on a daily basis. Responsibilities * Perform skilled maintenance work in the areas of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, HVAC, and/or other specific areas of expertise as needed in the Clubhouse. * Participate in the annual Clubhouse general cleaning, painting, and repair period at the end of the summer. * Paint and repair plant and equipment on an on-going basis as assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent. * Check with the Maintenance Superintendent daily for special and/or additional work duties that must be completed. * Report all damage to the physical plant and other related breakage and malfunction to the Maintenance Superintendent immediately upon discovery. * Perform any additional services as requested by the Maintenance Superintendent or Clubhouse Director. * Attend Clubhouse and Agency-wide Staff meetings as required. * Clean furniture, bathrooms, windows, walls, stairwells, lights, and equipment (e.g., pool tables) and all other elements assigned in a specific area of the Clubhouse; remove trash and other items to be discarded; dust, mop, and wax the floors, and clean equipment as needed or as may be assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent or Clubhouse Director. * Complete external maintenance tasks and perform preventive work inside and outside the Clubhouse. * Other duties as assigned Qualifications * High School diploma or GED * Minimum four years' experience performing cleaning and more skilled maintenance tasks * Must be a team player; Ability and willingness to complete tasks on schedule * Demonstrated ability to operate maintenance equipment and machinery; Ability to work on a variety of physically-demanding tasks and able to lift in excess of 50 pounds * Knowledge of building electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems as well as boilers and other elements * Experience cleaning and maintaining an indoor swimming pool desirable * Handy with tools and possess a technical aptitude * Demonstrated desire to learn on the job and advance skills * Willing to work a flexible and demanding schedule.
