Position: Nurse (Learning Center)
Location: 321 East 111th St. New York, NY 10029
Salary Range: $40 per hour
Hours: 28 hours per week; Monday-Thursday

The Nurse collaborates with the BCNY community to provide expertise and oversight for the provision of health services and acts as a liaison between program personnel, family, community, and healthcare providers to advocate for healthcare and a healthy program environment. The Nurse works directly with the Clubhouse Director to support the health of our members and staff and to ensure compliance with all health regulations and policies during learning center hours.
Initiate contact with families or alternate contact persons in the event of serious illness, injury, or other medical emergencies.
Serve as the primary liaison between the school and family for medical 504s.
Accompany members and staff to the hospital during health emergencies.
Develop and maintain an accurate, complete file on each student with documentation of relevant health records, required immunizations, and information on pre-existing medical conditions.
Conduct all necessary screenings and maintains accurate documentation in a timely manner.
Accept, keep, and dispense prescribed medications at appropriate intervals after obtaining required documentation from families and/or physicians.
Work closely with the Student Enrollment Team to ensure timely and accurate transmission of student health records.
Attend required department meetings and professional development trainings
Other duties as assigned
Greet all BCNY staff and members, parents and visitors and ensure each is properly directed based on established security guidelines
Maintain an accurate door count of all personnel, proper sign-in procedures, COVID screenings and complete all related and required paper work on a timely basis
Set up and maintain PPE equipment, adhering to the prescribed guidelines for required forms and documents
Reach out to members and/or families that are "no calls/no shows" to ensure their reasoning for missing programming; COVID related
Maintain daily COVID logs, report information to OCFS and communicate any discrepancies to the Clubhouse Directors
Supervise and train all personnel on COVID protocols and PPE usage with Clubhouse Director
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York
Familiarity with medications; Hospital experience preferred
Previous occupational health and safety experience a plus
Current CPR and First Aid certification required
Excellent working skills including: communication skills, organizational skills and attention to details
Ability to physically assist members with mobility impairment
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist members in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of members.
