This position is currently located within the Department of Public Safety but will transfer to the Department of Adult Correction when it is established on January 1st, 2023.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.

Position is responsible for the regional nursing orientation, continuing education, professional development and training for health services staff in the Eastern Region of the Department of Public Safety. The main office is in Greenville, North Carolina and travel within the Region and state is required.Duties of the position include assisting with the development, implementation and evaluation of the DPS Health Services Education and Competency Program; statewide and facility orientation, competency assessments, annual training needs assessment, continuing education, in-service education and annual evaluation of the program; education a support to all nursing disciplines and other related Health Services staff; developing and awarding continuing education hours following the NCNA/ACC guidelines; serves as a resource and consultant to the facility staff; Serves as mentor, preceptor and assist with orientation skill development, prepares educational offerings using varied learning methods.

Applicants should have proficient communication skills both auditory and visual and have Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must possess knowledge of audio visual equipment set up. On occasion, may be required to assist with staffing at facilities during staffing shortages.

Note to Current State Employees: The Salary Grade for this position is MH16.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the Description of Work section of their application that they possess ALL of the following were applicable:

  • Documented working experience in professional nursing, techniques and practices

  • Documented working experience in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
