Nurse Director Job Summary:
As the Nurse Director you will have 40 hour accountability of several departments. Ensures departmental quality and meets department and hospital standards. Ensures that the goals, mission, and philosophy of the hospital and Patient Care Services in area of service specialty are consistently implemented within his/her scope of responsibility. Plans and works flexible hours and days in order to meet the needs and requirements of the department(s).Responsible for 40-hour accountability of department(s). Ensures departmental quality and meets department and hospital standards. Ensures that the goals, mission, and philosophy of the hospital and Patient Care Services in area of service specialty are consistently implemented within his/her scope of responsibility. Plans and works flexible hours and days in order to meet the needs and requirements of the department(s).
Directs interdepartmental and intradepartmental activities on a 24-hour basis.
Identifies issues, and plans for appropriate resolution.
Develops and implements standards, policies, and procedures.
Hires, terminates, monitors, and evaluates performances of individual staff. Holds staff accountable to organizational policies and procedures.
Participates in interdepartmental and intradepartmental meetings.
Supervises and evaluates department activities against established standards, policies, and procedures. Initiates corrective action and evaluates results.
Serves as a resource and support person for staff.
Acts as patient advocate.
Develops department budget and monitors variances.
Continually seeks and implements methods to improve efficiency, increase productivity, and reduce costs while maintaining quality of care.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut required.
Baccalaureate degree from an approved college or university required. Masters degree preferred.
Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
Current NVCIT (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training) certification or within 3 months of hire required.
Ongoing contact hours to enhance professional development in service specialty required.
Contemporary knowledge of the EMS system and related regulations/requirements as well as clinical standards
Minimum of 5 years managerial experience in a hospital environment.
Experience in area of service specialty.
Experience in developing policies, business plan development and regulatory standards evaluation.
