Come join our team in the Kentucky Department for Public Health, Commissioner's Office where you will encounter challenging scenarios while working with a supportive group of close-knit team members.

We are looking for innovative problem solvers with perinatal nursing and quality improvement experience to assist the Kentucky Perinatal Quality Collaborative (KyPQC)!

This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serves as medical liaison to coordinate KyPQC quality improvement (QI) initiatives.

  • Provides trainings and resources to clinicians.

  • Provides technical assistance and clinical expertise to birthing hospital teams implementing Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives.

  • Collaborates with community partners and patients to address treatment, recovery, and social determinants of health for individuals with SUD.

  • Coordinates the investigation of healthcare protocols and practices.

  • Regularly evaluates the KyPQC initiatives.

  • Reviews Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) Patient Safety Bundles.

  • Assists with the development of tools, resources, protocols, standards of care, etc. that support implementation of QI initiatives.

  • Ensures all trainings, tools, resources, etc. disseminated by the KyPQC are focused on respectful and equitable care for all patients

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience working in perinatal care settings and/or quality improvement.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to take initiative and complete tasks without direct supervision.

  • Ability to collaboratively work with a multidisciplinary team on a common goal.

  • Ability to convey ideas to others effectively and provide medical expertise, technical assistance, and training to other healthcare providers.

  • Strong computer skills.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: See Special Requirements.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have four years of experience as a Registered Nurse.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.

Working Conditions
