  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.

  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.

  • Applicants must complete the Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) Basic Training Course within twelve months of employment

  • Applicants must obtain and maintain certification in Infection Control within two years of employment.

  • Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

Basic Requirement for a Nurse Consultant (Infection Control):

Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Qualification Requirements:
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Education Substitution: Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; or

Degree and Experience: Possession of a diploma, associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program and at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level).

Professional Nursing Experience is defined as: One year of experience which includes assisting with managing infection control programs, analyzing medical data and educating personnel on infection control.


FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. VIEW JOBS 9/26/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-12-25T00:00 Overview Employee will provide anesthesia and related services, in accordance with hospital regulatory, licensing and credentialing policies, and with the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Guidelines for Nurse Anesthesia Practice and Code of Ethics. Complies with current standards of anesthesia practice and care and provides anesthesia care that is within the scope of practice, as determined by demonstrated competency, licensure, and clinical privileges delineated by the MTF. Responsibilities CRNA includes administration of anesthesia by inhalation, endotracheal intubation, regional (including ultrasound guided), intravenous, topical and administration of all levels of sedation for pediatric and adult patients; this includes pre-, intra, and postoperative evaluation, treatment and the support of life functions and vital organs under stress of anesthetic, surgical and other procedures. CRNAs provide pain management and consultation. The CRNA may provide consultation, collaborative management or referral to other health care providers as indicated by the health status of the patient. Diagnosis and Management * Prescribes medication in accordance with Military Treatment Facility pharmacy and therapeutics * Mechanical ventilator management (invasive and noninvasive) * Central Venous pressure monitoring * Initiation and management of patient controlled analgesia intrathecal and epidural Procedures * Arterial catheter placement * Endotracheal intubation * Central venous catheter insertions * Ultrasound guided Nerve blocks for upper and lower extremity surgery and/or pain control * Epidural/spinal placement for labor or surgical management Anesthesia * General anesthesia * Spinal and/or epidural anesthesia * Topical and local infiltration anesthesia * Emergency cricothyroidotomy * Peripheral nerve block anesthesia * Regional nerve block anesthesia * Ultrasound guidance for vascular access and regional anesthesia Procedure Advanced privileges * Advanced nerve block techniques. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) (Copy of certification required) with at least 3 years experience. * (Homeland Security Presidential Directive) HSPD-12 is required. * Graduate of a school of professional nursing, approved by a legally designated state accrediting agency and hold current registration as a registered professional nurse. Copy of certification and license required. * Be a graduate of an approved program of nurse anesthesia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Program and Schools or its predecessor. * Licensure: possess current, active, valid, unrestricted license in at least one U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, Territory, or jurisdiction. * Prior to the expiration of their CRNA certification, be re-certified by the Council on Re-certification of Nurse Anesthetists. SPECIAL SKILLS * Ability to effectively read, write and speak English in order to communicate with all patients and other healthcare providers. * Possess evidence of continuing nursing education which maintains skills and knowledge in the nursing specialty. * Shall possess current certification in American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) at the time of employment.
