Nurse Consultant I - Nurse Clinician

Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Nurse Consultant I- Nurse Clinician. The primary purpose of the Nurse Clinician is to provide expert clinical consultation with Nursing Services throughout the facility to ensure the delivery of quality patient care while following nursing practice standards set by regulatory agencies.

Individuals in this role consult and partner with Nursing Leadership and front-line nursing employees to develop or improve specific nursing programs within the service areas. The Nurse Clinician participates in the development of policies and procedures and educational/training material for nursing staff and is responsible for the development, facilitation, and execution of the Nursing Performance Improvement Program. Individuals in this position also serve as catalysts for system change, expert clinical role models, and resource nurses who utilize excellent interpersonal communication and teambuilding skills in addition to advanced nursing knowledge, skills, and abilities to facilitate positive patient outcomes.

Candidates for the Nurse Clinician position are expert level Registered Nurses who are approachable, articulate, organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed while working as a member of the nursing team and serving on various committees/work groups. They should demonstrate proficiency in data collection, entry, and analysis.

The ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite and other programs is required to produce accurate work products within defined deadlines and in accordance with policies and standards. Knowledge and application of evidence-based practice and the nursing process is a vital component of this position. Critical thinking, familiarity with quality improvement strategies, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize duties in ever evolving situations is key in this role.

The normal work schedule is Monday

  • Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with flexibility required, including after-hours consultations as needed.

This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

  • Experience working as a member of an interdisciplinary team

  • Experience developing and presenting educational material to adult learners.

Management prefers candidates with the following;

  • Experience working as a Registered Nurse in a direct-care role in a psychiatric setting.

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

  • A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • The employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);

  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;

  • Or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
