ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take vitals (blood-pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration) according to established procedures.

  • Measure statistics - record intake and output, height, and weight.

  • Obtain routine lab samples not requiring laboratory personnel.

  • Help patients with ADLs (activities of daily living) for which they need assistance, such as bathing, combing hair, brushing teeth, shaving, putting on stockings and/or slippers, dressing, ambulation, and toileting.

  • Help patients with equipment for their treatment and help patients to move, transfer from bed to chair, or transport them to other departments for testing or treatment.

  • Infection control: know and follow proper protocol in avoiding the spread of germs and spores which transport disease.

  • Observe and report to assess the progress of the patient as well as any needs the patient might have for medical intervention and observe and remove any potential hazards which could cause accidents.

  • Keep patients rooms clean and orderly

  • Set up patients for meals, assisted with meals if needed, or fed if unable to do for self and document amount of meal taken.

  • Answer signal lights promptly on all patients on unit, not just assigned patients.

  • Practice as a team member in delivery of care.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Fills orders for food and supplies and performs preparation work for other areas of the Dietary Department in order to provide optimal food service to our customers. Assists cook as needed. Follows facility policy and procedure and the mission and philosophy of the facility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Organize and plan daily activities in order to complete the job in an efficient and effective manner. * Recognize and deal with priorities and completes all assigned duties prior to end of shift. * Meet all established time frames within the shift including start up times and break times. * Work ahead as necessary to accommodate the needs of the upcoming shift. * Perform all duties in an independent manner with little or no direct supervision. * Demonstrate the ability handle increased workload during periods of heavy workloads. * Show a willingness to take on additional tasks or assignments, change the work schedule and/or put in additional time when requested by coming in on days off and putting in extra time beyond the hours of shift. * Understand the duties of other comparable positions in the department so that coverage can be maintained in emergency situations or to help out with unexpected department needs. * Recognizes urgencies in co-workers workload and assists in completing their assignments where feasible and demonstrates a "needs no reminder" attitude after directions have been explained. * Prepare all ingredients for preparation of food service according to guidelines as follows: * All items are prepared as close to serving times as possible. * Foods prepared are of optimal quality. * Proper handling and holding food is followed. * Recipes and guidelines are adhered to and portion sizes are followed. * Prepares and delivers special ordered snacks to appropriate floors in a timely manner. Ensuring accuracy by following diet orders, nourishment lists, and client's requests. * Stock nourishment centers on patient care floors in a timely manner ensuring accuracy of completion and according to sanitation guidelines. Resetting tray accurately in a timely manner. Our Food Service Associates interact with patients and their loved ones every day.
