Department Overview

DCPP Nuclear Planning Department is the nuclear maintenance organization responsible for the development of work order instructions and delivery of work order packages to the various nuclear plant maintenance and modification work teams. The department is charged with assuring that the highest nuclear industry standards are maintained from the plan work to the field execution stages of the work planned by the department.

Position Summary

This is an ESC (Engineers and Scientists of California) represented exempt classification currently subject to collective bargaining.

You will develop civil work packages and provide technical support/oversight for field personnel for design modification, construction, corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and recurring tasks to comply with plant licensing documents, regulatory commitments, technical specifications, preventive maintenance, and equipment qualification programs.

Travel is estimated to be about 10% of the time with some overnight stays.

To obtain and maintain employment and unescorted access at DCPP, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check, psychological screen, computer-based training, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop work instruction and packages including engineering drawings, plant administrative procedures, maintenance and construction procedures, vendor recommendations and other governing documents and specifications. Assist in determination of post maintenance testing requirements, clearance, ALARA and foreign material exclusion program information. Identify required parts, special tools and material and coordinates generation of support activities. Perform job walkdowns to identify potential work activity interference. May develop as-built drawings and required field changes. Perform applicable final work package review and closure.

  • Interface and assist various departments with the development of permanent and temporary design changes. Participate in preparation of preliminary job estimates, schedules, and constructability reviews. Provide technical support to field personnel, performs field inspections, prepare progress reports, monitor the work of contractors to assure compliance with applicable site procedures, management expectations, work orders, construction standards, drawings, specifications, regulations and plans.

  • May direct the activities of employees or crews on job assignments requiring technical support.

  • Assist engineering with studies and analysis.

  • May perform duties as assistant supervisor when the project size warrants.

  • May be assigned to perform work on occasion in another discipline if qualified.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Three to five (3-5) years related discipline experience in nuclear power, and a high school diploma or equivalent.

OR

  • Two (2) years experience in maintenance in nuclear power, engineering or nuclear plant operations, and an associate's degree in engineering or related physical science.

OR

  • One (1) year experience in maintenance in nuclear power, engineering or nuclear plant operations, and a B.S. degree in engineering or related physical science.

Desired:

  • Civil maintenance experience

  • Possess a DCPP planner certification

  • Understanding of drawings, schematics, diagrams and other technical material

  • Basic software skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

  • Demonstrated experience using SAP Work Management Software

Department Overview The Radiation Protection (RP) Department is a regulatory mandated organization and is responsible for establishing and maintaining programmatic controls to ensure radiation safety for the Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP) workforce and surrounding communities. The RP Department has several programs; however, the primary ones include in-field support with RP Operations, Radwaste, ALARA and Exposure Reduction, Engineering, and Dosimetry. Position Summary The primary function of this position is to manage RP field operations by ensuring compliance with applicable radiation safety procedures. This is accomplished by direct supervisory oversight of field activities involving the coordination and maintenance of the plant's radiation protection programs to include oversight of Radiation Protection Technicians and Decontamination Specialists while fostering an inclusive work environment and respect for diversity. Individual will be required to fill a rotation in the DCPP Emergency Response Organization (ERO) as necessary.
