Our PET/CT Technologists use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain the procedure and put them at ease. With a caring attitude and keen attention to detail, they ensure patient comfort, safety and satisfaction every step of the way. They show their technical competence by effectively interpreting physician orders/instructions and selecting appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce the highest-quality PET/CT images/studies possibleenabling physicians to diagnose with pinpoint accuracy and treat with confidence. And, because our techs work in a variety of environmentsa freestanding outpatient center, a mobile coach, or a hospital-based/inpatient facilitytheir flexibility allows them to deliver the absolute best imaging care at any access point.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for patient safety including pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection technique, etc. and radiation safety/regulations, including proper documentation and technique when working with radioactive materials/patients.

  • Produces high quality diagnostic images.

  • Effectively communicates with customers and/or radiologists.

  • Trains new technologists and/or PC's.

  • Trouble-shoots the scanner, coach and peripheral equipment (including: monitors, PACS, coils, etc.).

Position Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine by the NMTCB or ARRT (N) required.

  • State license, as required.

  • CPR certification required.

  • As applicable, valid state driver's license required.

  • 1-2 years PET imaging experience or 1-2 years' experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies preferred.

  • Local travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit. The employee will be exposed to radioactive isotopes and ionizing radiation. May be exposed to radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

  • More than 50% of the time:

  • Sit, stand, walk.

  • Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs.

  • See, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients.

  • Less than 50% of the time:

  • Stoop, kneel or crawl.

  • Climb and balance.

  • Carry and lift (ability to move non-ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).

VIEW JOBS 10/19/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-17T00:00 Providence is calling a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (0.0 FTE, Days) to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR. This is a per diem position. The possible shifts to work would be day shift, from 6am-5pm, Monday - Friday. There is a possibiity to take call if desired, there is one week a year mandated and one holiday. In this position, you will: * Perform Nuclear Medicine examinations for diagnostic and therapeutic (site specific) purposes, while under the direction of a physician. * Prepare patient, prepare and administer prescribed dose of radioactive pharmaceuticals and non-radioactive pharmaceuticals, and perform calculations and manipulates data according to established parameters. * Assure proper preparation and/or ordering of radioactive material, calibrate equipment, assure appropriate quality control, monitor patients and perform other duties as assigned. Candidate will spend an apportioned amount of their FTE rotating from one or more of the Portland Service Area (PSA) hospitals. The PSA hospitals include: Providence St. Vincent Medical Center (PSVMC), Providence Portland Medical Center (PPMC), Providence Milwaukie Hospital (PMH), Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center (PWFMC), and Providence Newberg Medical Center (PNMC). Required qualifications for this position include: * Current American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Nuclear medicine (ARRT)(N) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification (New graduates must be board eligible and obtain permanent certification within 6 months of hire) * Current Oregon Board of Imaging (OBMI) as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (New graduates must have OBMI temporary license upon hire and obtain permanent license within 6 months) * Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification * Computer skills and knowledge of keyboard functionality * Completion of pledge to Image Gently/Image Wisely within 1 month of hire * Ability to read, write and speak English * Expert knowledge of anatomy and physiology, imaging principles and practices, as well as the ability to obtain high-quality images * Adherence to appropriate professional credentialing practice standards Preferred qualifications for this position include: * 2 years of working experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist About Providence in Oregon As the largest healthcare system and largest private employer in Oregon, Providence offers exceptional work environments and unparalleled career opportunities.
