Seeking PRN technologist to provide diagnostic and theraputic procedures in both Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT. Candiates must have excellent critical thinking skills, be able to work in fast paced environment, while providing high quality exams. Candiate must be able to demonstrate patient-family centered care. This position comes with rotational weekday and weekend, and holiday call.

Job Summary:
Performs diagnostic Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computerized Tomography (CT) procedures by utilizing PET/CT imaging equipment with associated computers and techniques. Follows accepted standards of practice and guidelines with age appropriate care. The practice of safe and efficient handling of radioactive materials in accordance with accepted standards of practice, and demonstrating expertise in limiting radiation exposure to patients and other members of the health care team is essential.

Education / Experience:

  • Graduate of AMA approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology

  • Two years experience in clinical Nuclear Medicine preferred

Reports To: Chief Technologist of Nuclear Medicine

Licensure, Certification and / or Registration:

  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist with the NMTCB or certificate eligible

  • Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist with the ARRT or registry eligible

  • Maintains BLS certification

Essential Functions:
1.Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building. Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Assumes responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures. Participates in departmental in-service and educational offerings. Contributes to the overall quality of services.
2.Ensures efficient and proper functioning of equipment.
3.Performs and assists in performing diagnostic exams using skilled techniques and equipment operation to ensure accurate results.
4.Maintains records and files according to procedure as required for accurate and up-to-date departmental records and/or reports.
5.Maintains coordination of activities with others to accomplish work activities and departmental goals.
6.Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood-borne/air-borne disease(s) and limit radiation exposure.
7.Ensures readiness of emergency equipment and supplies and recognizes and reacts appropriately to potential emergency situations.
8.Provides instruction, education and consultation to health care personnel and patients to promote improved quality of patient care.
9.Provides age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with Age/Development Specific Guidelines for the specific age groups served when participating in patient care.
10. Administers IV and oral contrast to PET-CT or diagnostic CT?s per protocol.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care and in an age-specific/developmentally appropriate manner

  • Able to maintain daily schedules

  • Certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation

  • Able to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses and other ancillary professional staff when discussing procedures and patient?s care

  • Clinical skills to enable recognition and to function accordingly in relation to priorities of patient needs

Work Environment:

  • Works with highly technical and sensitive equipment

  • Works with radioactive materials

  • Provides patient care in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable and bloodborne diseases
