Position Summary Nuclear medicine technologists are direct patient caregivers. They perform dose preparation and administration functions for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purpose; perform patient procedures, process, and enhance images, and prepare images for interpreting physician to view. • Performs diagnostic nuclear medicine, therapeutic nuclear medicine, PET scanning, cardiac stress lab functions, and radiopharmacy functions as required.
If a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT), may also perform diagnostic CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order. • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care. • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures. • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives. • Performs all nuclear medicine dynamic, static and functional procedures required by specific studies. • Performs SPECT and SPECT CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order. • Performs PET imaging on a rotational basis as outlined in written procedures or directed by interpreting physician, as required. • Performs all computer acquisition, and processing and documentation as required by procedure. • Performs quality control on all Nuclear Medicine instrumentation as outlined by written procedure or manufactures guidelines. • Orders and administers radiopharmaceuticals including positron emitters as required. Qualifications Licensure/Certification Must meet ONE of the following in totality: Maintains current certification as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) -OR Maintains current certification as an (ARRT) (N) American Registry of Radiology Technologists in Nuclear Medicine Must meet ALL of the following: • Maintains current Florida State License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification. Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
