Job Summary:

The IVVI Level II performs routine maintenance, repairs, and modifications to licensed nuclear facilities which are shut down for refueling. A nuclear technician monitors, maintains and provides quality control for nuclear testing and equipment as well as radiation levels. You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization's core values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and modifications to commercial nuclear power generation plants

  • Responsibilities include conducting and supporting activities for in-vessel inspections, vessel component modifications, reactor dis-assembly/reassembly, and under vessel maintenance.

  • This work requires extensive travel to nuclear stations performing mechanical and electrical service activities during outage seasons in the spring and fall.

  • Reading and comprehending detailed work instructions in accordance with written procedures and management direction.

  • Measure the levels and types of radiation produced by nuclear experiments, power generation, and other activities.

  • Will work primarily inside the containment building of a commercial nuclear reactor station.

  • Tasks include moving nuclear fuel using remote handling equipment, inspecting components with remote sensors, exchanging control rod drives, rigging and transferring reactor components, as well as repairing and refurbishing tools and plant components, which may require the use of air impact tools and heavy equipment.

  • Some work is performed in a very congested and high radiation area requiring the individual to wear radiation and environmental protection equipment (plastics or equivalent dress, supplied air breathing equipment, etc).

  • Ensuring Nuclear Safety, a priority during all aspects of the job.

  • Perform Safety Observations at each work location.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Travel may be required

  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School Diploma

  • Complete Granite's Environmental Health and Safety training modules

  • Successful completion of skill specific training (80% or higher)

Desired Characteristics:

  • NDE Certifications: IVVI Level II (Visual Testing, VT-1, VT-3)

  • Must have strong mechanical/technical skills.

  • Ability to pass a visual acuity exam

  • 3 years of nuclear experience highly desired, specifically BWR

  • Able to successfully perform all requirements of the job properly.

  • Understand and comply with all aspects of Environmental, Health, and Safety Standards

  • Must be able to obtain Unescorted Site Access at a Nuclear Power Plant

Specific responsibilities include: * Serve as a key member of the Nuclear leadership team * Lead a strong nuclear safety and EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) compliance culture with emphasis on employee involvement * Work with customers, functional leaders, and internal staff to meet or exceed customer requirements and operational metrics * Lead a strong quality culture compliant to the Quality Management System * Drive operations team towards execution of business goals using Lean Manufacturing methodology and culture. * Collaborate and partner with engineering, sourcing, and other key functional leaders * Develop strong pipeline of leaders to guide EHS, quality and operations teams. Guide and mentor others and enable talent development. * Establish and attain goals in compliance, safety, quality, cost, schedule, and other key business metrics. Drive operational excellence across the sites. * Obtain the necessary resources to effectively meet long range and near term production goals * Partner with leadership team to manage financial planning cycles and achieve financial targets * Develop and manage investment budgets tied to operational vision and business needs * Promote a working environment that encourages employee involvement to achieve excellence in compliance, nuclear safety, EHS, customer service, quality and productivity. * Champion positive employee relations.
