Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is hiring a Testbed Support Engineer to work in our Reactor Project Engineering department supporting the National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC). You will work onsite at our Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) with every Friday off (4x10 schedule)! The NRIC testbeds provide a unique capability to allow testing of first of a kind advanced microreactors. Being partnered with MFC allows demonstrators to leverage additional nuclear fuels research and development expertise along with numerous post-irradiation examination capabilities.
Responsibilities include:
Design tasks to support advance reactor demonstration projects. These tasks will include equipment such as gloveboxes, containers, furnaces and other equipment used in nuclear applications and nuclear fuel processing.
Work with other engineers to complete support projects that facilitate operation of advanced reactors.
Apply knowledge, practices, and techniques to develop designs for new or modified systems and specialized equipment through design and implementation phases for reactor support projects in the test bed facilities.
Collaborate with several NRIC partners to support test bed operations.
Utilize technical understanding of system design requirements, system performance criteria, physical configuration, operation, testing, and maintenance of assigned systems and components is key.
Perform System and Project Engineering role for assigned testbed support projects
Perform Engineer role for project installation
Perform Design Engineer role for modifications to support assigned projects
Perform as Engineer for ancillary projects as assigned by engineering manager
Configuration Management of assigned systems/projects
Specify equipment maintenance for assigned systems
Monitor performance of assigned systems
Failure analysis for assigned systems
Operations Support for assigned systems
Utilize ability to design, analyze and evaluate assigned systems
Collaborate with operations, engineering, nuclear safety, maintenance, and programmatic personnel both verbally and through written products
Identify and execute engineering work tasks such as design efforts, maintenance activities and operating written instructions
Plan, organize, and lead engineering work
Utilize familiarity with digital and systems engineering methods and tools
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering discipline and 5-8 years relevant engineering experience, or a master's degree and 3-6 years relevant experience.
Applicable degrees include; Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, Electrical, and Instrumentation & Controls engineering, Aerospace. Other degrees may be considered in combination with relevant experience.
Prior experience in a nuclear power plant or nuclear facility is ideal
Experience performing system engineering functions within a nuclear facility/environment is helpful.
Professional Engineering License ideal
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information:
The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($91,008 - 186,588) / Level 4 ($109,260 - 223,908). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
