The Project Manager for NPI (New Product Introduction) is responsible for planning and executing the transfer of New Products to the Celestica portfolio. The role will require a broad understanding of the Celestica Portland business unit, excellent customer relationship skills, exemplary team leadership, and ability to manage diverse and concurrent activities. The variety of projects will allow significant creativity with a broad latitude of approach and decision making. Customers often need longer term sustaining support for these products, and Project Managers often provide Program Management support.

NPI Project Managers work on two primary types of Projects or a combination of:

  • NPI Design Projects to define and execute an engineering project, generally to create a product design.
  • NPI Production Launch Projects to define and execute the launch of a design into production.

Essential Functions:

  • Define, Document, and Control the Scope of Work for assigned projects

  • Create Work breakdown structures, define Milestones, requirements, and establish project schedules

  • Create effective and efficient teams using resources shared from other departments

  • Track action items, report project progress, troubleshoot problems, escalate, and adjust plans as needed

  • Absorb and understand technical products at a level that allows unrestricted communication with the all project team members, customers, and stakeholders.

  • Recognize and manage scope change, including cost impact and change approvals

  • Act as the point person for all assigned projects, providing solutions to project related issues quickly and reliably. Project managers must be relentless in the pursuit of working solutions for all project issues.

Other functions:

  • Project Managers are in a position of extensive responsibility and high visibility. Associates are required to represent the highest standards of drive, ethics, professionalism, and organization.

  • Identify and escalate any systemic Celestica problems that are impediments to project success.

  • Utilize the "Product Lifecycle Management" process, which defines the requirements for completing typical projects.


  • Demonstrated ability to work across department lines and earn respect of all associates

  • Ability to quickly and clearly explain situational facts and summarize options

  • Technical capabilities to quickly grasp the product and manufacturing processes at a level that allows productive interface with technical experts

  • Lead diverse groups, drive peers to respond and take actions

  • Strong language skills to document and communicate all aspects of projects to internal and external customers, suppliers, and associates.

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Innovative and Savvy in use of Cloud based applications

Physical Demands:

Duties of the position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.


  • Minimum 5 years Project Management background with hardware design and manufacturing experience

  • Materials Requirements Planning (MRP)- Solid understanding of production workflow is required

  • Experience in Semiconductor processing equipment manufacturing or service is preferred.


  • Technical Degree is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Project Management (PMP) credentials are a plus
