ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The NP/PA is responsible for providing direct care to clients for the purpose of health promotion and disease management; case management to facilitate positive outcomes for employees/clients impacted by illness; program development and management related to the health needs of the organization; health expertise in collaboration with other members of the health and safety infrastructure to provide consultation as needed by members of the organization; communication and training to effectively educate clients about disease risk and their role in reducing risk of illness; appropriate administrative functions; and employee education, medical surveillance programs, and wellness programs.Demonstrates a working knowledge of medical/surgical practice, occupational health, OSHA standards, and government regulations as well as an understanding of how to apply this knowledge to medical surveillance and treatment.

Demonstrates competence with physical diagnostic skills, medical and occupational history taking, and documentation of all relevant findings.

Demonstrates the highest standards of honesty and integrity in all dealings, both related and unrelated to hospital business.

Demonstrates willingness to seek help from the medical director or supervising physicians when questions arise which are beyond the scope of the employee's expertise, training, or experience.

Develops treatment plans in accordance with established clinical protocols and consideration of all physical and psychosocial factors that may impact the client situation, and establishes a rapport with clients to provide support, education, and counseling.

Develops treatment protocols and clinical pathways in collaboration with the supervising physician.

Documents assessments, treatments, outcomes, work and disability status, and screenings in a thorough manner. Maintains clear and concise records for individual and corporate clients to meet the requirements of the department, the company and any applicable standards or laws.

Exercises an ability to assess and anticipate health risks throughout the company by analyzing data to determine health issues and employee groups at risk

Provides pre-employment physical exams, medical surveillance exams, and evaluation and treatment of health problems for clients

Utilizes principles of case management to achieve best outcomes for clients in a cost-effective manner and acts as a liaison between the client and providers to whom he/she is referred.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:Required: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) has completed a nurse practitioner program, is certified by a national credentialing body, and utilizes a full range of clinical skills in accordance with rules and regulations of the Expanded Nursing Practice Act and under the auspices of the Board of Nursing. The Physician Assistant (PA) has completed an educational program for physician assistants, has completed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination, and utilizes a full range of clinical skills in accordance with rules and regulations of the North Carolina Medical Board and the supervising physician. EXPERIENCE:Required: A minimum of two years experience in an Occupational Health, ER, Wellness, or Primary Care setting; preference for a minimum of one year occupational health experience. Demonstrated experience in the clinical management of clients in the ambulatory care setting. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIREDValid Driver's License | Valid Driver's LicenseRequired: NC License as Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner Certification required or current NC Medical Board licensure for Physician Assistant.PREFERRED
