Baylor Medical Center at Frisco has Seasonal Opportunities for experienced PreOP/PACU RNs (PRN): September 1 - December 31st, 2018 $50/hour DAYS 9a-930p

Rotational weekend coverage and at least one major holiday during this time. If all requirements are met (including no attendance violations), a $1,000 bonus will be paid.

The RN has the responsibility to plan, direct, organize, coordinate and implement all nursing care services for the pre-op patients in a manner suitable to accepted standards of care. He / she ensures the highest quality and safe delivery of patient care maintain compliance with professional nursing TJC, and all Federal and State standards of care. The RN cares for all ages from pediatric to geriatric.

Pre-operative Duties

  • Manage patients' admission processes to preoperative department in a hospital

  • Assess the status of patients' health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristband

  • Ensure that operative and informed consents are in order

  • Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out

  • Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure

  • Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff

Required Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.

  • At least 3 years' experience as an RN, with experience starting IV's, obtaining consents, educating patients and prepping them for surgery.

  • RN, current in the State of Texas

  • BLS

  • Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.

  • Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet needs of patients and unit.

  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
