GEO Academies-Baton Rouge Classroom Assistants are responsible for: Assisting teacher in preparing classroom materials; Supervising & assisting students during class and other activities; Helping to maintain classroom order and discipline; Providing group/individual tutoring to students needing extra help; Assisting in grading & recording students' work; Communicating with parents & guardians as needed; Attending staff meeting & professional development sessions.

The successful GEO Academies-Baton Rouge candidate is required to have:

• An associate degree or higher; 24 credit hours in education or related field preferred. Passing ParaPro scores may be substituted for degree.

• Experience working with children in an educational setting or childcare setting.

• Ability to work well in a team environment.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal & written

• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

• Knowledge of basic computer applications.
