Northrop Grumman is seeking a motivated professional to join our team as a Network Communications Specialist. This position is located in Suffolk, VA.

The Network Communications Specialist will support the Joint Training Enterprise Network (JTEN) 24/7/365 Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) and will be responsible for maintaining and administering the JTEN.

Primary duties will include solving issues to include, developing innovative solutions to technical problems to ensure the stability and integrity of JTEN services. Additionally, provide direct support to the warfighter training events with hands on COMMS establishment, monitoring and troubleshooting of a worldwide network of Juniper and Cisco routers, switches and ancillary equipment. Moreover, work closely with the customers of our network in order to identify potential issues and perform complex troubleshooting for routing IP switching and local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) protocols.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, and other network appliances

  • Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations

  • Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling JTEN objectives and processes

  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems, to include lifting and moving equipment.

  • Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made

  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records

  • Collaborate with Exercise Planners

  • Tracking and escalation of incidents

  • Ensure all issues are logged and documented

  • Quickly and professionally assess issues, and take steps to resolve

Basic Qualifications:
1.An Associate's degree. An additional 2 years' of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
2.A minimum of 7 years' of direct relevant experience.
3.The following certifications: Security CE and one of the following: Juniper - JNCIA, CNDSP, Cisco Certified, Technician (CCT), Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT)
4.The ability to work shift work.
5.Experience with the resolution of problems related to hardware and software, both application and operating systems.
6.A current Secret Clearance.
7.U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:
1.Juniper Networks Certified Specialist Enterprise Routing and Switching (JNCIS-ENT)
2.Network Operations Center Experience
3.Tier 1 and 2 Helpdesk Experience
4.Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
5.Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
6.Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
7.Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
8.Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Essential Functions: * Responsible to the S&IS Security Manager relative to execution of responsibilities associated with the position of CPSO * Tactical operational control regarding management/operation of secure areas and Program Security Officer responsibilities * Administer, address and complete personnel security requirements with employees regarding issues, report preparation, program security access briefings, and clearance/access maintenance for briefed employees * Create, administer, and track requisite annual training, initial new hire security briefing, initial security clearance briefing, and security debriefing for all cleared employees * Ensure all required security support for sensitive compartmented information (SCI) level programs and manages operations of associated Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF's) in accordance with governing directives and program specific guidance * Responsible for ensuring the formulation, establishment and execution of security policy, procedures and protocols pertinent to the facility consistent with National Industrial Security Program and Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs) requirements * Determine customer security requirements and ensure requisite security access requests with applicable government agencies * Responsible for effective communications regarding security by interfacing with or liaising with external customers (Government, Associate Contractors, Subcontractors, former employees) and internal Harris organizations * Conduct security education and training; provide initial security indoctrination briefings, debriefings, annual refresher training and other corporate requisite training * Ensure continuous physical security integrity for facility in general and accredited secure work areas in particular * Guard/alarm interface; liaison with alarm monitoring facility to ensure security of controlled/secure areas in accordance with government requirements – requires emergency response requirements during non-working hours * Provide leadership on special projects that cut across the business and the company, to include assisting with S&IS-wide security process standardization * Foster teamwork and collaborative efforts among Security group members to ensure timely completion of group project tasks and responsibilities.
