The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29 .The NG-MIP program is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The Northrop Grumman Military internship Program is open to all ranks and experience levels. SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.

Responsibilities for this internship position are:

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman

  • Military Internship Program (DoD SKillbridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for Skillbridge. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.

Goals

  • Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.

Objectives

  • Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly-trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission "Defining Possible" on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.

Outcome

  • Offer transitioning service member a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:

  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty

  • Is within 12 months of separation or retirement

  • Will receive an honorable discharge

  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS

  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months

  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Communications Engineer/Principal Communications Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

The Communications Electronics Engineer/Principal Electronics Engineer must have experience with installation, integration and troubleshooting of aviation related communications systems, component sub-systems, RF Line of Sight, SATCOM and tactical networks.

Essential Functions:

  • System integration, test development and execution of various types of complex communications systems

  • Create and develop documentation for system requirements and interfaces, including system engineering drawings and diagrams

  • Troubleshoot systems to resolve complex issues, interact and coordinate with responsible communications engineers responsible for sustaining communication sub-systems

  • Serve as an interface between the O&T organization and the engineers

  • Ensure communication system performance meets specified levels

  • Proactively maintain overall system performance of a deployed communication system

  • Perform troubleshooting, document issues and coordinate field replacements/upgrades of communications systems

  • Contribute to improvement of processes, design and future sustainment efforts

  • Actively participate in Program Risk and Opportunity Management

  • Must be a self-directed technical performer with strong communication skills, demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary technical trades, and ability to develop & execute to a strategy

Basic Qualifications (Communications Electronics Engineer):

  • HS Diploma and 6 years of experience OR Bachelor's Degree in a STEM with 2 years of related experience

  • Practical working experience with various types of RF systems

  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance (within 5 year scope)

  • Must possess working knowledge in Systems Engineering

Basic Qualifications (Principal Communications Electronics Engineer):

  • HS Diploma and 9 years of experience OR Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related experience

  • Practical working experience with various types of RF systems

  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance (within 5 year scope)

  • Must possess working knowledge in Systems Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Meets DoD SkillBridge Qualifications as per DODI 1322.29

  • Master's Degree in an Engineering Discipline

  • Experience with the integration and test of aviation related communications systems or component sub-systems

  • Working knowledge of communication engineering theory

  • Ability to obtain program access

  • Top Secret/SCI clearance with Active SSBI required with investigation date in last 5 years

Salary Range: $101,400.00 - $152,200.00Salary Range 2: $125,800.00 - $188,600.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

The SCPS position is in a growing organization to support the SNAP Operating Unit (OU). The position helps define and develop material strategy for the programs. The candidate should have a general understanding of SCM principles - materials management, procurement, subcontracts, cost budgets, supplier quality, production, and logistics. This role will encompass supply chain responsibilities from the inception of a program in the proposal phase to the end of a program's period of performance. In proposal phase, the SCPS will work with the Program team during the pricing of all material requirements, prepare proposal pricing inputs and support the team in the development of supplier capabilities, risk profiles, and presentations. In execution phase, the SCPS will act as the Program Management Organization (PMO) liaison on behalf of the entire SCM organization who is responsible to monitor and provide status of material deliveries, mitigate schedule and quality risks, and build relationships with the supply base. This position will involve Control Account Management (CAM) financial and schedule responsibilities which includes Earned Value Management (EVM) tracking, Intranet Program Review System (IPRS) reporting, and implementing Return to Green (RTG) plans.
