Prepare, cook, bake and serve a variety of foods in quantity at an assigned school site; assist in other food preparation duties as directed; maintain facilities in a clean and sanitary condition; train and provide work direction to others.


  • Prepare and bake rolls, biscuits, breads, cakes, cookies and other baked goods; prepare and combine necessary ingredients.

  • Prepare and cook meat dishes, vegetables and other main dishes; prepare salads, sandwiches, fruit, soups, sauces and other foods.

  • Assist in determining appropriate quantity of food items for cooking and baking; adjust and extend recipes as needed; maintain food quality standards including appearance, and nutritional requirements.

  • Monitor temperatures of food to assure safety and quality standards are met; monitor water temperatures to assure proper temperature for sanitizing.

  • Serve food according to established guidelines and replenish serving containers as needed; serve and sell lunch items to faculty.

  • Clean cafeteria equipment, utensils and appliances and store food supplies; assure compliance with kitchen sanitation and safety procedures and regulations; clean refrigerators and storerooms as required.

  • Assist in storing unused food and supplies; dispose of unusable leftovers; utilize proper methods of handing foods to be stored.

  • Operate a variety of standard kitchen utensils and equipment including slicer, chopper, mixer, steamer, fryer, dishwasher, electric warmer, range, oven, pressure cooker, cash register, dishwasher and other cafeteria equipment as required.

  • Train and provide work direction to others.

  • Record amounts of food sold and monies collected as assigned; assist with inventory and maintain routine records as directed; prepare records of foods cooked and foods left over.

  • Prepare and bake food for special events as needed; assist at banquets or special events as required.

  • Assist in other food service areas as needed; collect money and make correct change.

  • Punctual and regular attendance.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Principles and methods of quantity food service preparation, serving and storage.

  • Sanitation and safety practices relate to handling, cooking, baking and serving food.

  • Methods of preparing and serving food in large quantities.

  • Methods of adjusting and extending recipes and proper substitutions.

  • Standard kitchen equipment, utensils and measurements.

  • Health and safety regulations.

  • Basic record-keeping techniques.

  • Basic math and cashiering skills.

  • Prepare and serve food in accordance with health and sanitation regulations.

  • Operate and maintain standard machines and equipment found in school cafeterias and kitchens.

  • Prepare attractive, appetizing and nutritious meals for students and staff.

  • Lift, bend, reach and stand.

  • Follow, adjust and extend recipes.

  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma, GED Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a GED as required by Kentucky law and one year experience in cooking and baking food in large quantities.


Must complete training course for certification of beginning school food personnel as prescribed in 702 KAR 6:045.

VIEW JOBS 4/12/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-11T00:00 225 days TITLE: Principals (Elementary and Secondary) QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Kentucky Certification for School Administrator REPORTS TO: Superintendent/MCHS Principal PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: * The Principal shall be responsible the care, upkeep and use of the buildings, grounds, and all equipment to which he/she is assigned. * Maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of the buildings and report any needed repairs to the Superintendent. * Keep the school building and grounds in an attractive manner. * See that the buildings and grounds are free from any hazards that could affect the health and safety of pupils, teachers, and visitors in the school. * Maintain at all times an orderly learning at atmosphere. * Supervise the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and nonacademic purposes; assumes responsibility for the safety of the school plant. * Inform non-school groups of the Board of Education policies concerning the use of the school building. * Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, and other paperwork required by the Superintendent or the State Department of Education. * With assistance from the SBDM Council, lead in the development and determination of appropriateness of the instructional program, then monitors the program. * Plans and supervises fire, earthquake, tornado, and other emergency drills. A written report will be filed in the Principal's office listing dates and times of all emergency drills. * Hold students accountable for observing and obeying the School District's Student Code of Acceptable Behavior. * Maintain a program of public relations and communication in order to foster positive understanding and support of the school's objective and programs. * With assistance from the SBDM Council, oversee the constant evaluation of the instructional program. * Insures that both certified and classified personnel assigned to the school are aware of the policies and regulations of the Board of Education. * Evaluates all certified and non-certified employees according to the guidelines established by the school district. * Keeps parents informed concerning the school program including student progress, achievement, and deficiencies. * Exhibit loyalty to all phases of the school program and participates in school activities as much as possible. * Works with all school principals in coordinating educational programs which allow for unity between schools in order to provide a smooth transition from elementary to middle school and from middle school to high school. * See that an inventory of all equipment in the school is complete and a copy of the inventory is submitted to the Superintendent at the close of each year. * Keep the proper inventory forms on textbooks and collect from the students the value of any book damaged, destroyed, or lost. * See that all employees of the school fulfills their working obligation regarding time and tasks completed. This includes any employee who is paid additional salary above base salary for extra services. * Assume leadership in all area of the school's athletic and extra-curricular activities. * Cooperates with University officials regarding teacher training and preparation. * Conducts staff meetings to keep members informed of policy changes, new programs, and innovations in education. * The Principal shall be responsible for obtaining needed substitute teacher from the list approved by the Board of Education. The Principal shall also provide the Superintendent with a written list of substitutes used and teachers absent from work each monthly period during the school year. * The Principal shall be responsible for the supervision of students who are in the school building before and after school. * Supervise the loading and unloading of all school buses. * See that all students activities in the school are properly supervised. * The Principal shall be responsible for seeing that all unauthorized persons are restricted from school grounds during school days, and at all school functions. * The Principal shall be responsible for the management of all public funds handled in the school during the course of the school year. * The Principal shall provide the Superintendent and Board of Education a monthly financial report. * It is the responsibility of the Principal to see that any and all budgets are completed and followed for any organization or department in the school. * The Principal shall attend any meeting required by the Superintendent and shall inform his/her staff (certified and non-certified) of information disseminated during these meetings. * The Principal shall be responsible for assisting in the development and distribution of any student or teacher handbooks. * The Principal shall be responsible for seeing that all rules and regulations of the Board of Education are carried out in the school to which he/she is assigned. * The Principal shall be responsible for making all necessary schedules which are applicable for the orderly operation of the school. * The Principal shall be responsible for receiving information from juvenile court regarding students enrolled in their school and shall maintain the information in a confidential manner as set forth in the procedure determined by the Superintendent. * The Principal shall be in the building at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the beginning of school and remain until the buses leave in the afternoon. * The Principal performs related duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent.
