Position Summary: Develops products by identifying potential products; conducting market research; generating product requirements; developing marketing strategies. Implements and maintains all aspects of the Quality Management system. Responsible for managing all quality programs and department staff; improving product quality from process through production by identifying and improving current inspection systems. Essential functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics:
Plans, organizes and manages the New Product Development Engineering and Quality Compliance teams to meet company goals and objectives for design, new product development and quality compliance of all current and new products at Norris Rods.
Researches and monitors existing client base, industry developments, and market environment to identify potential new product opportunities.
Applies advanced knowledge of technical engineering principles and practices in the identification and understanding of client requirements to manage the development of technical specifications, implementing designs and developing effective quality control processes for current and new products.
Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis. Plans documentation system.
Selects correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement for existing ones.
Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
Partners with other departments to establish a design, technology, product development and vendor strategy.
Review designs and perform tests on products, resolving issues to ensure technical feasibility, design, optimization and quality specification compliance.
Monitor and supervise all functional and mechanical specifications of new products.
Executes new product launches into business requirements for handoff to manufacturing plant.
Manages project budgets and submits proposals. Manages project financial controls and risk, ensuring projects executed within approved budget.
Collaborates with Norris management (internal audits, working with inspectors, risk management, etc.) and improvement projects to improve QMS.
Provides guidance to all employees, supervision and Internal Quality Auditors on all matters related to product quality.
Ensures adherence to health and safety guidelines as well as legal obligations.
Builds key business initiatives and plans in collaboration with sales, marketing and product leaders to identify strategies targeting growth.
Develops and drives initiatives/programs to improve Quality KPI performance.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5 to 7+ years' experience in Quality Management (certification applicable to the country of employment, such as APEGA, required.
Master's degree in Engineering and 10 years experience in Quality Management preferred.
5 to 7+ years proven experience as an Engineering Quality Manager with history related to new product development.
Proficiency with precision measuring tools, strong knowledge of calibration and ability to read blue prints.
A minimum 5 years' experience managing a Quality Management System in a manufacturing or similar environment.
Extensive knowledge and experience of ISO 9000 standards.
Experienced in setting up/implementing, developing and maintaining quality management systems.
Experience with Problem-Solving methodologies (5 Why, root-cause analysis, PDCA, 8D, DMAIC, etc.)
Ability to learn and teach technical information with respect to API and ISO quality programs.
Ability to analyze and visually represent complex data sets using tools such as Pivot Tables/Charts and basic statistical techniques.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
American Petroleum Institute (API) Standard knowledge/experience (API Q1 / ISO TS29001, API 1 1AX and 11B).
10+ years' proven experience as an Engineering Quality Manager with history related to new product development
Experience in Oil & Gas Industry
Experience in Rod Pumps
Training and/or certification in Six Sigma and/or Lean
