The Norcross, GA office of Larson Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Designer to produce mechanical, process, and piping designs for construction. The position will primarily be dealing with process piping & mechanical designs from the initial concept through construction. The designer needs a strong understanding of piping systems and components and be knowledgeable in mechanical design of steel fabrications.
Specific tasks will include developing site layouts, equipment layouts, process & instrumentation diagrams, piping orthographic drawings & isometrics through Plant 3D, pipe support details, and miscellaneous fabrications such as baseplates, brackets, etc.
This position will work under the supervision of design engineers including other disciplines to develop all aspects of various projects. The position will require direct contact with clients and vendors to meet necessary project goals. The ideal candidate will be an independent goal seeker and have a growth-orientated personality with a willingness to address all designs aspects of varying industrial projects. As part of the consultant team, you will need a broad knowledge of the latest equipment and technology used in the pulp and paper, agricultural, and utility industries, with the ability to develop detailed design solutions for clients.
Specific Responsibilities include:
Utilization of AutoCAD Plant 3D and other 3D design programs to produce construction documents.
Performing field verifications of new designs and existing environments.
Perform field surveys and 3D scans for collecting existing information.
Develop project designs from initial design concepts through construction.
Coordinate with other disciplines to generate project goals for the client.
Ability to Travel as needed ~15%.
0-40 years' experience in a Piping and/or Mechanical Design role for industrial projects
High Proficiency in CAD design and Design Standards
Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills
Excellent written communications skills
