Role Summary:Unison Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Aviation, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of electrical components, sensors and systems for aircraft, industrial, military and space. Unison's products span the globe and can be found on almost anything flying from two place trainer airplanes to giant 747's and rockets traveling to space. We presently have an opening for a 1st shift Calibration Technician, working 7:00AM to 3:30PM.
Perform calibration and inspection on tools and complex equipment.
Analyze and diagnose equipment and tool failures
Set up, operate, and repair test equipment and tools
Perform routine preventive maintenance
Utilize procurement system for new instruments, repairs, and other needed services
Perform authorized employee Lockout-Tagout responsibilities
Ability to ensure calibrations are completed as scheduled
Understanding and ability to perform scheduling and processing of external calibrations as required
Charge amplifiers, Puma vibration, vibration shakers, PSI Switch Stand
Complete mechanical calibrations to include: Rockwell, Surface plates, Thread plugs, thread set plugs, thread rings, pressure/vacuum, indicators, torque wrench, tri-rolls, bore gages, Vernier/micrometers, height gages, blocks, rulers, and tapes
Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of calibration processes and/or adjustments
Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures
Participate in and support team initiatives
Cross-train other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience
Compliantly complete all written and/or electronic labor tracking documentation
Complete electrical calibrations to include:
Dew Point meters
Vacuum Furnace Electrical calibrations, SAT, TUS large and small zones
Alternator ATP Coils, Rotors, and Stators
Testers Core and Coil, Sensor static, universal alternator, IDDSI tester, surge testers
Ovens standard and 9 point
Current shuts - DC power supply, digital multi-meters, Digital RPM meters, Digital thermometers, LCR meter, Megohm, Milliohm, Micro ohm, accelerometers, insulation
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Must pass visual acuity exam and have an intermediate understanding of blueprint/schematic interpretation along with extensive mechanical and/or electrical knowledge
Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, etc.), may have to perform metric conversions, conversions to decimals.
Ability to use intermediate hand tools and measuring devices (verniers, micrometers, calipers, CMM, VOM, height gauges, digital and/or mechanical gauges, torque meters, weights and scales, vacuum gauges, pressure gauges, optical comparators, oscilloscopes, power supplies, temperature meters, digital multi-meters, resistance meters, pH meters, etc.)
Ability to use intermediate computer applications (Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PPT, Visual Basic, etc.)
Special education and/or vocational training within mechanical and/or electrical specialty
Previous experience in a self-directed team environment
Lean manufacturing knowledge
3-5 years calibration inspection experience
Possess inspection knowledge
Basic knowledge of quality system requirements (i.e. AS9100)
Lead team initiatives
Active member in the teaming culture
