LONG-TERM EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: 60 College Credit Hours Required
Work Experience: Elementary Education experience preferred, but not required
SKILLS:
Ability to plan and effectively provide instruction to all students
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
Maintain the philosophy that all children can learn when provided with the appropriate instruction
Willingness to individualize instruction to meet the needs of the students
Ability to work collaboratively with others within a "team consensus" approach
Ability to provide positive behavior intervention and supports in a consistent manner
Ability to remain objective, calm and neutral when responding to student's inappropriate behaviors
Ability to "actively observe and listen" to students and relate to them in a positive, supportive and reinforcing manner
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Participate in educational planning
Maintain provided instructional programs, materials and supplies for classroom
Demonstrate positive and prosocial instructional behaviors and techniques
Demonstrate skills in preventing and teaching replacement behaviors with students
Demonstrate classroom management skills
Effectively communicate, consult, and team with parents and staff
Maintain student records, as required
Maintain contact with home regarding student progress and programming
Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed upon or established timelines
Adhere to Allegan Public Schools' policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: April 22nd-May 31st, 2024
