NAA is seeking a Data Specialist to join its team!

Overview:

The Data Specialist will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative data collected from focus groups to create comprehensive reports for the National Center for Enhanced Post Adoption Support and National Center for Adoption-Competent Mental Health Services. Reporting to the National Director of Equity and Partnerships, the Data Specialist will use data to inform content creation and dissemination of best practice approaches to post adoption support that are culturally and linguistically appropriate and responsive.

National Adoption Association (NAA) is the largest and only national association focused exclusively on supporting public and private adoption professionals at all levels, including frontline workers, agency directors, and state adoption managers. Founded in 1982, NAA serves 500 members across the country, regularly convening members, to promote best and inclusive practices and increase competency in applying a race equity lens in all work with all families. NAA shares promising practices through various outreach tools: webinars, conferences, think tanks, and publications.

For over four decades, NAA has built professional relationships with those who administer and interact with child welfare services, including two decades of operating Children’s Bureau program AdoptUSKids. NAA brings tested, effective techniques and dissemination strategies from AdoptUSKids, strong national network, and reputation, to promote the Center’s work, including targeting specific communities with culturally responsive and linguistically appropriate content.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Management, or related field 
  • At least 3 years of experience in data research, management, or analysis with demonstrated success in the nonprofit sector, preferably in child welfare.
  • Experience with qualitative analysis software such as QDAS products, nVivo, PowerBI, Trint and ATLAS, Ti and similar software preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Requirements

    Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    ·Strong quantitative skills, including statistical analysis, and attention to detail.

    ·Proficiency in data analysis tools and ability to interpret complex data sets and extract actionable insights.

    ·Deep data visualization and executive presentation experience (Tableau, Power BI, Salesforce, Excel, etc.).

    ·Knowledge of data protection regulations and best practices.

    ·Strong verbal and written communications kills to effectively convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.

    ·Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to think and work independently, prioritize, and strategize.

    ·Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products and familiarity with GSuite.

    ·High level of teamwork with the ability to collaborate across the organization and with partner organizations.

    ·High level of integrity and ethical standards in handling sensitive data.

    Role and Responsibilities

    Data Analysis & Visualization:

  • Collect, clean, and analyze data from target audience. Use qualitative data software tools (QDAS products, nVivo, PowerBI, Trint and ATLAS, Ti and similar software.)
  • Identify trends, patterns, and correlations in data to provide actionable insights for marketing strategies.
  • Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights effectively to marketing teams and stakeholders.
  • Analyzing data of programs that impact DEI disparities across child welfare.
  • Contribute to the development of focus groups by utilizing multiple methods of data collection, analysis, and research to enrich and validate existing data.  
  • Data Collection & Management:

  • Collaborate with trauma-informed consultants and internal team members to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and data needs.
  • Optimize data collection methods to ensure comprehensive and relevant data gathering.
  • Collect, clean, and maintain datasets from various sources.
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data across databases.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify data quality and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure data privacy and security in compliance with organizational policies and legal regulations.
  • Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare regular reports and documentation to present findings and recommendations to sites and leadership for execution.
  • Draft comprehensive data report of themes to communicate key performance indicators.
  • Support the grant reporting efforts by providing necessary data insights.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of data collection methods, data sources, and data management procedures.
  • Research & Support:

  • Conduct research into best practices in utilizing data for focus group design.
  • Provide meeting facilitation to support the National Director of Equity & Partnerships.
  • Identify and source secondary data relevant to research projects from databases, publications, and other external sources.
  • Provide support to internal and external team members regarding data-related methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Stay up to date on the latest developments in data science and research methodologies to continuously improve data collection, management, and analysis practices.
  • Additional Notes

    This position may require occasional evenings and weekends.  NAA conducts background checks on all employees. This position is grant-funded.

    The Data Specialist salary starts at $55,000.
