Job Description Summary

The Non-Brokerage Controller will be responsible for the financial close processes related to property/facility management, valuation & advisory and project development service lines in the Americas, Cushman & Wakefield's largest and most profitable region. He/she will be accountable for the financial integrity, reporting and presentation of financial information. This financial leader will review and initiate new redesign processes which have been impacted by the merger of Cushman & Wakefield's legacy firms, new financial system conversions and outsourced Finance Service Center (FSC) activities managed by Accenture. This person will also be a change agent to help the Company's controllership function prepare for public company readiness. The Non-Brokerage Controller will liaise with multiple groups within the company as well as Accenture to effectively communicate financial results to internal customers such as FP&A and operations. He/she will contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust controls environment for the operations and compliance with GAAP and Company accounting policies

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly financial close activities for the non-brokerage business operations in the Americas

  • Redesign, refine and document processes to improve the accuracy and timeliness of the financial close

  • Partner with the Accenture outsourcing team on daily accounting procedures and the monthly close process (including review and approval of related activities)

  • Partner with regional/global Controllership and FP&A teams to drive better coordination & communication throughout the monthly close process

  • Assist in the development of key internal controls and effective accounting policies in accordance with GAAP and industry best practices as the Company prepares for SEC reporting requirements

  • Effectively utilize the Company's financial reporting tools (Workday, Salesforce, AS400, Peoplesoft, and HFM) to improve the efficiency of the monthly close processes

  • Key culture leader to support the continued integration of the legacy firms

  • Actively participate in the Company's internal and external audits to support timely and accurate completions of audits

  • As applicable, support tuck in acquisition integration and special projects

  • Manage, lead and develop a team of 1 2 direct reports

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

  • CPA Designation (strongly preferred)

  • 7+ years of experience in increasingly significant accounting or finance roles

  • Strong knowledge of ERP's and database software packages

  • Experience with GAAP & public company regulations

  • Proven business partner to divisions and corporate functions

  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize key deliverables

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability

  • Ability to occasionally travel within the Americas region as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA

  • Real estate industry experience

  • Balance of public accounting & industry roles

Physical Requirements

  • Involves work of a general office nature; typically includes extended periods of sitting and/or operation of a computer

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to write and type

  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you

  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented orally and in writing

The Program was created to establish an oversight framework to ensure material conflicts of interest throughout the Firm are effectively managed and mitigated. As part of this process, Internal Controls maintains an inventory of items identified as material conflicts of interest and provides periodic reviews, reporting and training to ensure a strong culture around, and a transparent view in to, the management of conflicts of interest. The Program does not own line of business responsibilities for identifying, mitigating and controlling conflicts, but rather provides oversight to ensure all material conflicts are identified, reviewed and managed. The Operational Risk Consultant (ORC) will support the WFA Conflicts of Interest Program through fulfillment of the following responsibilities: * Lead fulfillment of requirements of the WFA Conflicts of Interest Program, including ensuring compliance with Firm policy, execution of program deliverables and maintenance of the Conflicts of Interest Inventory. * Implement enhancements to WFA processes to ensure compliance with SEC Regulation Best Interest * Facilitation, administration, tracking and recordkeeping associated with the WFA Conflicts of Interest Committee * Lead additional ad hoc projects and initiatives within the Internal Controls department The Operational Risk Consultant will partner effectively with all levels of associates within Compliance, Legal, and other WFA business units to perform required job functions.
