The Atlantic Council's Europe Center is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as a Nonresident Senior Fellow specializing in the Western Balkans. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the organization's mission to promote European values, stability, and integration within the Western Balkans region. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the popular #BalkansDebrief podcast, cutting-edge analysis, and public and private programming aimed at advancing the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkans. The successful candidate will play a prominent role in representing the Europe Center's #BalkansForward programming in engagements in Washington DC, in the Western Balkans, and in Europe.
This is a remote position in the Washington, DC area. Pay is commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers starting at $70,000.
Job Responsibilities
#BalkansDebrief production:
Lead the planning, production, and execution of the #BalkansDebrief podcast, ensuring high-quality content that engages audiences and promotes informed discussion on Western Balkans issues.
Coordinate with policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to secure interviews and discussions relevant to the region's political, economic, and social dynamics.
Oversee post-production processes, including editing, sound design, and distribution.
External Engagement:
Represent the Europe Center as a thought leader on Western Balkans issues through participation in conferences, workshops, and media engagements.
Foster relationships with external partners, including government officials, diplomats, academics, journalists, and civil society organizations, to enhance collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Research and Analysis:
Provide in-depth analysis on political, economic, and social developments in the Western Balkans region.
Monitor regional trends, emerging challenges, and opportunities relevant to European integration efforts and contribute thought leadership in these areas.
Program Management:
Shape the Europe Center's Western Balkans portfolio and strategic direction.
Develop strategic approaches to accomplish the Center's objectives.
Work with the Western Balkans team to translate programmatic objectives into deliverables.
Qualifications
10+ years of in-region experience in at least one Western Balkan country.
Fluency in at least one regional language or one European language is required.
10+ years of public-facing media experience.
Familiarity with podcast production and social media management.
Advanced degree in political science, communication, international affairs, or related field.
Established relationships with the Washington DC political, think tank, and private sector communities which engage with the Western Balkans.
