GENERAL SUMMARY: The Noninvasive Technician II performs electrocardiography procedures, exercise stress testing, nuclear stress testing, and ambulatory monitoring for diagnostic purposes at Bryan Medical Center and institutions throughout the region.


PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. *Performs high quality noninvasive cardiology procedures to include, but not limited to, diagnostic electrocardiograms, signal-averaged electrocardiograms, flight physical electrocardiograms, holter and event monitor applications including scanning and analysis, cardiac stress testing, nuclear stress testing, stress echos, and CPX testing in accordance with established departmental policies. 3. *Prepares unconfirmed ECG#s, cardiac stress testing of all forms and ambulatory cardiac monitoring for Cardiologist overread. 4. *Performs quantitative calculations from data obtained; records preliminary impression where applicable. 5. *Performs routine equipment maintenance. 6. Transports patient and/or equipment, alone or with assistance, in bed, wheeled cart or wheel chair to designated area. 7. Assists with holding venous and arterial pressure to achieve hemostasis. 8. Informs supervisor of any institution or equipment concerns. 9. Communicates/interfaces with Medical Center personnel, medical staff, patients, families and outside agencies to ensure quality patient care. 10. Maintains a safe working environment. 11. Maintains confidentiality of hospital, patient and family information. 12. Participates in inservice training,continuing education and competency procedures. 13. Participates in quality improvement activities. 14. Attends monthly staff meetings. 15. May be required to assist with clerical duties as assigned. 16. May deliver medications received on unit to the appropriate patient, RN, physician, medication drawer or medication storage place. 17. Attach Addendum for positions with slightly different roles or work-specific differences as needed. # REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Knowledge of basic cardiac anatomy and physiology. 2. Knowledge of non-invasive cardiac procedures. 3. Knowledge of cardiac conduction with emphasis on dysrhythmias and life threatening rhythms. 4. Knowledge of patient education as it relates to cardiovascular treatment, disease prevention and rehabilitation. 5. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions. 6. Skill in the performance and application of job-related non-invasive cardiology procedures. 7. Skill in operating a personal computer, typewriter and general office equipment. 8. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision. 9. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 10. Ability to accurately perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of procedure scheduled. 11. Ability to practice proper body mechanics to ensure personal and customer patient safety. 12. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, medical staff, volunteer and ancillary departments including diverse patient populations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


High school diploma or equivalency required. Post secondary education in a health science field or Associate degree in allied health field preferred. Minimum of one (1) year experience in electrocardiography or stress testing preferred. # OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (CPR) with AED certification within three (3) months of hire required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.) # (DOT) # Characterized as medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Required to transport patients and/or equipment, alone or with assistance, in bed, wheeled cart or wheeled chair to designated area. Possible exposure to body fluids and communicable disease; may be required to lift and transport patients.
