Responsibilities

  • Provides planning and leadership to Noninvasive Cardiovascular Services and EEG by developing staffing plans and technical staff education.

  • Achieves and maintains Joint Commission Chest Pain Certification and ICAEL Echocardiography Accreditation.

  • Maintains effective communication with medical staff, administrative staff, nursing staff and other team members.

  • Assists in the development and revision of department policies and procedures ascertaining that Joint Commission, local, state and federal accrediting and licensing bodies' requirements are met.

  • Assists the organization in incorporating the guiding principles into its cardiovascular practice.

  • Performs diagnostic procedures commensurate with the level of education and/or licensure.

  • Assists in the Quality Assurance / Improvement Program of Cardiovascular, Telemetry, and EEG Services.

  • Shares on call responsibilities with management personnel as necessary.

  • Participates in all inspections and surveys of the department.

  • Collaborates with the physician group diagnostic center where echocardiograms and stress testing are performed. E.g., meetings with practice leaders and physicians of the group.

  • Assists in human resources activities such as interviewing, hiring, training, counseling, scheduling, verifying payroll and employee performance.

  • Coordinates patient care activities ascertaining the delivery of patient care is provided in a personalized, professional, quality manner and is compliant with the accrediting and regulatory agencies. Ascertains that the delivery of patient care and billing are compliant with the accrediting and regulatory agencies.

  • Orders medical and office supplies, ensuring that patient care is uninterrupted.

  • Ascertains that patient charges and/or credits are entered correctly by performing daily audits.

  • Performs quality control on equipment and resolves issues or notifies the biomedical department immediately of any potential malfunction or hazard of equipment.

  • Objectively evaluates the performance of direct reports. Makes recommendations for promotion, disciplinary action or discharge. Consults with Human Resources personnel as appropriate.

  • Participates in the hiring process assuring "buy-in" to organizational mission and values.

  • Possesses a thorough working knowledge of the hospital computer systems and is able to perform all systems functions necessary to achieve timely patient care.

  • Maintains current knowledge of cardiology philosophies, models, procedures and innovations, trends in healthcare and standards of care.

  • Adheres to the standards identified in the hospital's organizational and managerial competencies.

  • Any other duty that may be assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology

  • Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) (or equivalent).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. BLS must be current at all times during employment.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience as a supervisor
