General Summary# Performs general equipment cleaning and stocking. Prepares machines and other equipment for sonographer use. Performs diagnostic electrocardiograms as well as cardiac monitor placement. Cleans and processes transesophageal probes. PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. *Participates in identifying and reporting patient safety issues. 3. *Assists cardiovascular sonographers and coordinators as requested. 4. *Cleans, disinfects and sterilizes all cardiac and vascular equipment (ultrasound machines, ultrasound probes including transesophageal probes, ECG equipment, etc.), following current infection control guidelines. 5. *Performs diagnostic electrocardiograms, signal-averaged electrocardiograms, flight physical electrocardiograms, and holter and event monitor applications in accordance with established departmental policies. 6. *Takes calls from account hospitals for #Stat# overreads; contacts Cardiologist 24/7 for urgent interpretation. 7. *Receives event monitor transmissions of ECG strips and contacts Cardiologist for #Stat# overreads. 8. *Recognizes and reports #Discrepancy ECG#. 9. *Prepares unconfirmed ECG#s for cardiologist overread. 10. *Transcribes cardiologist overreads, creating a confirmed ECG; distributes copies of confirmed ECG. 11. *Performs routine equipment maintenance. 12. *Transports patient and/or equipment, alone or with assistance, in bed, wheeled cart or wheel chair to designated area. 13. Informs supervisor of any institution or equipment concerns. 14. Maintains a safe working environment. 15. May deliver medications received on unit to the appropriate patient, RN, physician, medication drawer or medication storage place. 16. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. 17. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalency required. Current progress towards a cardiovascular sonography degree required. Courses related to cardiovascular field at post-secondary level required including ECG course.# Basic Life Support (CPR) with AED certification within three (3) months of hire required. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
