The Engine Center (EC) Assembly Materials Organization has a rare opportunity for an Associate Director, Materials. This is a fast paced position in operations management and requires lots of interaction with other departments and with various levels of management.

The Quality and Process Engineering (Q&PE) organization is looking for Non Destructive Testing (NDT) L3 inspectors who will work with internal P&W business units, suppliers and partners to develop and continuously improve NDT systems. As a member of the Q&PE NDT team, you will perform supplier and in-house NDT audits, provide technical oversite and drive process improvements. Travel may be up to 30%. Specific NDT L3 proficiencies being considered are: Etch (chemical processing), Eddy Current, Florescent Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, X-ray/Digital X-ray, Ultrasonic, and any emerging methods.

There are open positions for various US locations including but not limited to East Hartford & Middletown, CT; Columbus, GA; Holt, MI; Clayville, NY

Basic Qualifications:

Technical degree in a related field and/or relevant NDT experience
Minimum experience: 4 years as a certified NDT L2 inspector
Currently hold or able to obtain a NDT Level 3 in one or more NDT methods
US Citizenship required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with training, personnel testing and auditing NDT systems
Experience that includes a background in establishing NDT and general quality systems and NDT methods
Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing operations
Ability to work independently
Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, internal and external customers
Knowledge and experience with root cause and process control tools
Experience with SAP and Microsoft suite
High energy, dynamic individual who strives for continuous improvement

In this position you will perform visual and dimensional inspection to verify the proper assembly and disassembly of new and overhaul gas turbine engines and components. Follow procedures to determine extent and nature of repairs needed to restore parts and accessories to required specifications. Perform related inspection and process paperwork, in associated area. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Work applicable written inspection procedures, drawings, Engine Manuals and other pertinent instruction and/or Approved Technical Data to plan and perform dimensional and visual inspection on parts, tools and gages and other equipment, accepting material or referring for rework or quality review based on findings. * Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments where work instructions are well defined to check dimensions and record results. * Perform necessary mathematical computations to determine extent of nonconformance and complete appropriate paperwork. * Follow proper procedures to perform in-line checks and verification of dimensions and make sure that Work Instructions are being followed. * Recognize need and arrange for repair or replacement of measuring equipment used in performing the work as necessary. * Support and promote continuous improvement initiatives to meet business objectives. * Must maintain Inspection stamp. * Manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously * Flexibility around shifts, for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime * May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals' skills. * BASIC QUAILFIICATIONS: * High School or General Equivalency Diploma * Must be a United States citizen due to government contracts. * 1.5 + years related experience * Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English PREFERRED QUAILIFICATIONS: * 2+ years of inspection experience. * Experience with precision measuring equipment. * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Note: East Hartford Repair Operations is an FAA regulated facility and compliance with such rules is a condition of employment. Key Responsibilities: * Perform metallurgical inspection processing on a wide variety of development, production and overhaul/repair parts. * Utilize methods such as fluorescent penetrant, magnetic particle and etch. * Maintain Level I NDT certification as required. * Work from detailed procedures, technique sheets, verbal and other pertinent instructions to process parts for nondestructive testing and complete required record keeping. * Set up, operate equipment, and where applicable, check and adjust equipment and test process medium as needed to ensure valid test results. * Identify recurring processing problems and recommend changes in methods or equipment to eliminate or minimize them. Recognize need for repair or replacement of equipment used in processing. . * Work with and assist certified Level II inspectors, responsible for the identification and dispositioning of non-conformances, in preparation for advancement to higher level NDT certification. * Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions such as inspector's check list for upkeep, and assure equipment operates properly. * Assist others who are responsible for new equipment or process tryout and other specialized assignments within the scope and skill level of this job description. * Refer problems to supervisor as appropriate to resolve difficulties. * May be assigned to carry out tasks not specifically listed, * Work within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individual's skills.
