The Quality and Process Engineering (Q&PE) organization is looking for Non Destructive Testing (NDT) L3 inspectors who will work with internal P&W business units, suppliers and partners to develop and continuously improve NDT systems. As a member of the Q&PE NDT team, you will perform supplier and in-house NDT audits, provide technical oversite and drive process improvements. Travel may be up to 30%. Specific NDT L3 proficiencies being considered are: Etch (chemical processing), Eddy Current, Florescent Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, X-ray/Digital X-ray, Ultrasonic, and any emerging methods.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Technical degree in a related field and/or relevant NDT experience

  • Minimum experience: 4 years as a certified NDT L2 inspector

  • Currently hold or able to obtain a NDT Level 3 in one or more NDT methods

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with training, personnel testing and auditing NDT systems

  • Experience that includes a background in establishing NDT and general quality systems and NDT methods

  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing operations

  • Ability to work independently

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, internal and external customers

  • Knowledge and experience with root cause and process control tools

  • Experience with SAP and Microsoft suite

  • High energy, dynamic individual who strives for continuous improvement

  • Location: There are open positions for various US locations including but not limited to East Hartford & Middletown, CT; Columbus, GA; Holt, MI; Clayville, NY.

Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond?</p><p>The Quality and Process Engineering (Q&amp;PE) organization is looking to add a Metallurgical testing analyst to the team. This position is for an engineer to perform metallographic evaluation plasma and heat treat and various manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for metallurgical sample preparation, evaluation, disposition and quality documentation of materials and processes. Interpretation of blueprints, specifications, procedures and laboratory manuals to assess what testing is required and conformance to requirements is a critical aspect of this position.</p><p>Responsibilities will include regular interaction with the production as well as other engineering disciplines to help respond to metallurgical problems and develop effective root cause and corrective action for manufacturing problems. Effective team player and contributor utilizing the CORE tools and continues improvement by maintaining EH&amp;S and operating requirements in order to assure a safe and productive working environment. Position may also require occasional off-shift and weekend coverage based on business requirements.</p><p>Engineer responsible for metallurgical sample preparation, evaluation, disposition and quality documentation of materials/process/coating. Interpret blue prints, specifications ,procedures and laboratory manual's to assess what testing is required and conformance to requirements.</p><p>Key Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Perform metallographic evaluation and documentation of various processes including advance aluminides coating, EDM, braze, stud welder plasma, and braze and heat treat.</p></li><li><p>Provide clear, concise and accurate lab reports</p></li><li><p>Maintain records, mounts and sample residue retention</p></li><li><p>Monitor testing frequency of all processes</p></li><li><p>Develop cut up and evaluation sheet for all tested parts</p></li><li><p>Perform annual ESA/MCL audit and five years MCL Source Qualification surveys</p></li><li><p>Interacts with other functional groups (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, materials) on routine technical matters.</p></li><li><p>Investigation of various parts and process related problems</p></li></ul><p>Basic Qualifications:</p><ul><li><p>B.S Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related engineering discipline</p></li><li><p>Prior 2 years minimum experience in the area of metallurgical testing, evaluation and documentation</p></li><li><p>US citizenship is required due to government contracts.</p></li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications:</p><ul><li><p>Quality and/or manufacturing background</p></li><li><p>Possess a strong work ethic</p></li><li><p>Strong proficiency in the use of hand tools and test equipment</p></li><li><p>Ability to work independently in a fast paced, dynamic production environment</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing operations</p></li><li><p>Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing</p></li><li><p>Interact effectively with customers at all levels and willing to put customers first is crucial</p></li><li><p>Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) with a commitment to accuracy</p></li><li><p>Knowledge and experience with root cause investigations, corrective actions and problem solving</p></li><li><p>Experience with SAP</p></li><li><p>High energy, dynamic individual who strives for continuous improvement</p></li></ul><p>What is my role type?</p><p>In addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work.
