PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Works under supervision of the Health Services Supervisor, or the building School Nurse.

In addition, will assist nursing staff obtain immunization and physical exam information from parents. Will make phone and community contacts to set up medical services for students. To assist Early Childhood in the development and implementation of systems transition of children and families birth to five years from the Early Intervention system into Early Childhood. May be asked to assist with other duties, as directed, by the immediate supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan. 2. Carries out such additional duties as required or as conditions necessitate. 3. Conduct vision and hearing screening for all Early Childhood students under the guidance of the building nurse. 4.

Maintain required health records under the supervision of the building nurse. 5. Assists Certified School Nurse to maintain lines of communication with teachers and other school personnel in order that a cooperative action will meet the needs of the students. 6. Assist teachers and nurse with sick children. 7.

Administer minor first aid in accordance with established policy and procedure. 8. Update health records and participating in accurate computerized data entry in regard to immunization dates, health examinations and medical condition codes.

NON- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job. 2.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. 3. Provides supplemental/discretionary reports, data and materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum High School Diploma 30 college hours CNA preferred, first aid experience or willing to learn Currently held or willingness to obtain vision and hearing screening certification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess excellent oral, written and communication skills.

Ability to attend to detail and follow tasks through to completion. Must be capable of working on multiple projects at one time with strong organizational skills and high levels of self-motivation. Employee should be highly organized, demonstrate good judgment and have the ability to set priorities and work effectively under pressure.

Proven ability to remain discreet, to handle issues of highly sensitive nature, and to ensure personnel information and other confidential information is not disclosed without appropriate authorization. Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.

LENGTH OF WORK: 9 months

WORKING CONDITIONS: Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: Demonstrate continuous improvement in carrying out essential and non-essential duties and responsibilities. Perform job confidentially, accurately, efficiently and expediently as measured by the supervisor and based on District employee input.
